For the first time in 74 years, CBC did not broadcast NHL hockey on Saturday night, instead filling its traditional Hockey Night in Canada window with cricket. The change follows the end of CBC's agreement with Sportsnet, with the two sides unable to reach a new deal after Rogers secured a new 12-year, $11-billion NHL rights agreement. CBC says it will continue broadcasting hockey, including women's PWHL games, but the end of Saturday-night NHL coverage marks a major break from one of the broadcaster's most iconic traditions. read more

The Essential Services Restoration Act, known as Measure ER, increased the county's baseline sales tax rate from 9.75% to 10.25%. The increase is temporary. Measure ER allows the tax to remain in effect through Oct. 1, 2031, and is projected to generate about $1 billion annually. Sales tax exemptions include groceries, prescription medications, and medical equipment. read more

Talk about their football teams. If it wasn't for sports and right-wing stupidity, universities wouldn't even be in the national conversation.
Yeah this is BS. From Palestinian crises, to campus rape marches .. keep carrying that bucket R2D2.
the first responsibility of a US president is to protect the American people.
Really where were you in 2021 through 2024?
The report, which encompasses Fiscal Years 2021 through 2024, reveals that under Joe Biden, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) received 3,145,375 leads about possible alien overstays. Of that amount, 104,049 (approximately 3.3%) were categorized as potential national security and public safety concerns.
But of the leads for possible national security threats, only 496 investigations were launched, resulting in the arrest of just eight aliens. The remaining 3,041,326 overstay leads (96.7%) were determined to be "Non-Priority." Of the 2,837,188 Non-Priority leads that were sent to ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO), only five leads were investigated after being determined to be possible public safety threats, and with only two arrests being made.
"The degree of the Biden Administration's dereliction of duty, which needlessly put American lives at risk, is staggering and enraging," said DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin. "As if the wide-open borders weren't enough, a new OIG report reveals that the Biden-era ICE failed to act on more than 3 million leads about possible alien overstays, with more than 100,000 of these being labeled as potential national security threats. Unlike the Biden Administration, the Trump Administration will always put the safety of the American people first. We will target and remove as many illegal aliens as possible to make America safe again."

The irony of the complaining about Trump, is that should a terrorist actually implement a planned attack to destroy LA or San Diego, or any other city in the US.
He/She/They would have been let into the country under Biden.
Northwestern is the cherry on top.
Didn't Northwestern just open a ~ Billion dollar stadium that holds 30,000 people?

American education is putting its money where it counts I suppose.
To all of those complaining, imagine all the people who contributed to the system, but died before they could collect anything. Be grateful you are still alive to collect.

Federal Law does NOT SPECIFICALLY state that the government can keep Social Security taxes and never pay them back.
It most certainly does, Flemming v. Nestor, 1960 established that citizens have no contractual right to benefits.
I blame his ESL teacher.
This is funny I site SCOTUS, you have nothing.
