1) Canada has its first-ever minister of artificial intelligence (AI). Evan Solomon will have a massive job touching nearly every aspect of Canada's economy, government, and national security. Liberal PM Mark Carney had called for sweeping use of AI to create the "economy of the future," incentivize businesses to adopt AI, and build the requisite infrastructure. When it comes to the federal government, AI will be used to slash repetitive tasks and reduce costs in the public service. Solomon will also oversee digital transformation. 2) Turkiye unveiled the modernized Bayraktar TB2 drone enhanced with AI and capable of recognizing targets, making decisions in real time, and operating autonomously. During the initial Russian onslaught against Ukraine, the Bayraktar TB2 was a powerful weapon, but the Kremlin developed successful air defense countermeasures, limiting their effectiveness and use by Kiev. A Mexican security consultant who worked for the USDoS was ambushed at a restaurant in Guadalajara. The former minister of security for Hidalgo state was also killed and another instructor was wounded. Mexico has a high homicide rate, mostly related to the drug cartels. In 2020, 35,644 murders took place and 70% of the recovered weapons originated in the US. Federal magistrates in New Mexico are dismissing national security charges against immigrants who crossed through a newly designated military zone, finding little evidence that immigrants knew about the zones. AUSAs had charged 400 immigrants with misdemeanor trespassing. Misdemeanor illegal entry into the US charges remain. In NYC, a Mexican Navy training ship crashed into the Brooklyn Bridge, killing two sailors and injuring 19 others on board as the tops of its masts were sheared off. At least one person was killed in an explosion Saturday morning near a fertility clinic in Palm Springs, California, that authorities are calling an "intentional act of terrorism." Palm Springs city officials said in a Facebook post that the blast occurred just before 11 a.m. local time at North Indian Canyon Drive, near East Tachevah Drive, a stretch that has several healthcare facilities. Four other people were injured in the explosion, none of which are believed to be staff members of the clinic, city officials said. In a statement, Palm Springs Police Chief Andy Mills disclosed that one person was killed in a vehicle explosion that appeared to be an intentional act of violence. The victim has not yet been identified, Mills said.

America's gyms are no longer safe as a shooting inside the Las Vegas Athletic Club on the city's west side Friday afternoon left two people dead, including the suspect. Three others were wounded. Reported a witness: "It's just a weird feeling right now. It's strange. Who shoots up a gym?" In an average year, 568 people die and 481 are wounded by guns in Nevada. Firearms licenses in Nevada: 119,007. An estimated 47.3% of Nevada adults have guns in their homes. Nine people have been killed in a Russian drone strike on a passenger bus in north-eastern Ukraine, local officials say. The Sumy regional administration says another four people were injured in the town of Bilopillia on Saturday morning. Medics, emergency services personnel and police are now working at the scene. The reported attack comes just hours after Russia and Ukraine held their first direct peace talks since 2022.
