Unlike other interfaces -- which sound stiff and robotic, like early smart assistants -- this one imitates the sound and cadence of real human speech.
The bottom line: "The expectations aren't just unreal. They're dangerous," the eighth House Democrat said.
Explanation: It came from outer space. An object from outside our Solar System is now passing through at high speed. Classified as a comet because of its gaseous coma, 3I/ATLAS is only the third identified macroscopic object as being so alien. The comet's trajectory is shown in white on the featured map, where the orbits of Jupiter, Mars, and Earth are shown in gold, red, and blue.

In the US, people are getting away with murder. The clearance rate, the share of cases that result in an arrest or are otherwise solved, was 58% in 2023. In other words, a murderer's chance of getting caught within a year essentially comes down to a coin flip. For other crimes, clearance rates are even lower. Only 8% of car thefts result in an arrest. Compared with its peers, America overall does an unusually poor job of solving killings. The murder clearance rates of other rich nations, including Australia, Britain, and Germany, hover in the 70s, 80s and even 90s. Several issues, including a lack of resources, the sheer volume of cases, and a distrust of the police, have converged to make the jobs of American detectives much more difficult. "It's a serious problem," said Philip Cook, a criminal justice researcher at Duke University. The lack of legal accountability emboldens criminals, leading to more crime and violence resulting in "a vicious cycle." Read more
Noah Lamb (24) was charged in the Eastern District of California in an eight-count indictment for conspiracy, soliciting the murder of federal officials, and other offenses in connection with his work on a hit list of "high value targets" for assassination. Lamb was a member of the Terrorgram Collective, a transnational terrorist group that operates on the digital messaging platform Telegram, where it promotes racially or ethnically motivated violent extremism. Members of the Terrorgram Collective believe the white race is superior; that society is irreparably corrupt and cannot be saved by political action; and that violence and terrorism are necessary to ignite a race war and accelerate the collapse of the government and the rise of a white ethnostate.
The latest round of indirect ceasefire talks between Israel and Hamas have ended without a breakthrough, a Palestinian official familiar with the negotiations told the BBC. According to the official, the session lasted for nearly three and a half hours and took place in two separate buildings in Doha. Messages and clarifications were exchanged between the two sides through Qatari and Egyptian mediators, but no progress was achieved.

The Honorable US District Judge Thomas Zilly set a tentative trial date of 15 Sep after an appeals court rejected Seattle Police Officer Christopher Myers' claim of qualified immunity. The lawsuit names a second officer as a defendant and accuses the Seattle Police Department of demonstrating "deliberate indifference" by not getting Myers " who fired his gun in four separate encounters from 2010 to 2019, three of which were fatal " "professional, mental, or other help to assure he stops shooting people." Myers has not been disciplined or charged with any crimes in connection with those shootings. The mother of murdered Ryan Smith (31) filed the lawsuit against Christopher Myers which was affirmed by the USDJ Thomas Zilly, a Ronald Reagan appointment. Read more
For all practical purposes, the "Real Poor," like Frantz Fanon's oppressed Blacks, make no mark on the present world. Like all poor anywhere, they could disappear rom the face of the Earth without leaving any trace. What can be done about their predicament? There are two contrasting answers to this question. Either to eliminate all the poor on the lines of what the Irish satirist Jonathan Swift suggested in his famous "modest proposal" to solve the problem of famine in Ireland two centuries ago. Or if the conscience of the world will not accept a "final solution" (and fortunately there are people in the rich countries who would oppose this), then the only other alternative is to try to restore some measure of human dignity to this assortment of peoples.
"A conversation with Aldous Huxley not infrequently put one at the receiving end of an unforgettable monologue. About a year before his lamented death he was discoursing on a favorite topic: Man's unnatural treatment of nature and its sad results. To illustrate his point he told how, during the previous summer, he had returned to a little valley in England where he had spent many happy months as a child. Once it had been composed of delightful grassy glades; now it was becoming overgrown with unsightly brush because the rabbits that formerly kept such growth under control had largely succumbed to a disease, myxomatosis, that was deliberately introduced by the local farmers to reduce the rabbits' destruction of crops. Being something of a Philistine, I could be silent no longer, even in the interests of great rhetoric. I interrupted to point out that the rabbit itself had been brought as a domestic animal to England in 1176, presumably to improve the protein diet of the peasantry." Read more
