Dow Jones Hits Record High Close Today - 41,240.52

The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at a record high on Monday, as investors tried to put behind a steep sell-off from earlier this month. The 30-stock index closed up 65 points, or 0.16%, at 41,240.52. Earlier in the day it climbed more than 200 points, or 0.6%, then pulled back from that level.

Trump brands stock market tumble the Kamala Crash'

Former President Donald Trump on Monday labeled a sharp drop in the stock market "the Kamala Crash," linking to the ascension of Vice President Harris as the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee.

"Of course there is a massive market downturn. Kamala is even worse than Crooked Joe," Trump, 78, wrote on social media Monday morning " after the Dow Jones Industrial Average plunged 1,000 points in morning trading after closing down more than 600 points on Friday.

"Markets will NEVER accept the Radical Left Lunatic that DESTROYED San Francisco and California, as a whole. Next move, THE GREAT DEPRESSION OF 2024! You can't play games with MARKETS. KAMALA CRASH!!!" Trump added.

Nostra-dumbass with another gem of a prediction from 21 days ago.

Wonder what he's calling today's closing number as Harris moves further ahead - or is catching up - in national and swing state polling in the wake of the electric Democratic National Convention that eclipsed every viewership comparison metric with the RNC's Caucasian Coffee (C)latch?

Of course, he's crying Mommy and Kamala's answering "Say what, Don-OLD?"

Trump Praises the Stock Market at 22,000 That He Said Was a Bubble at 18,000 (2017)
www.nytimes.com

... As America's stock markets have reached record highs, they have had few louder cheerleaders than President Trump.

"Highest Stock Market EVER," he said on Twitter on Monday.

Before the stock exchanges' opening bell on Tuesday, Mr. Trump pointed out in a tweet that the Dow Jones industrial index's recent surge started just after he was elected. (He also lamented, incorrectly, that the press was downplaying that fact: "Mainstream media seldom mentions!")

And on Thursday, Mr. Trump made clear that he thinks he deserves credit for the latest record high, tweeting, "That doesn't just happen!" ...

The president clearly set himself up': Trump's stock market miscalculation (2018)
www.politico.com

... President Donald Trump is learning a basic and painful lesson of Wall Street: Stocks also go down.

A global market sell-off accelerated Monday with the Dow Jones Industrial Average plunging nearly 1,600 points at one point in roller-coaster afternoon trading. After a volatile session, the Dow ended down 1,175 points, or 4.6%, at 24,346. ...

On top of concerns about rising inflation, the tax cuts are already increasing the federal government's need to borrow and accelerating the date by which Congress must raise the federal debt limit. And as of Monday, there was still no plan in Washington to raise the limit and avoid a catastrophic default.

The result is that a president who tossed aside traditional presidential caution in cheerleading the stock market now stands poised to take the blame for any correction. ...

From the "Dow plunges over 1,100 points, S&P 500, Nasdaq sink 3%" thread posted by Claudio:

Me: "I dropped ~2%. Not enough to warrant any action except to pick up a few nicely priced items while they are on sale."

Claudio: "Translation: I got bent over a barrel but have not learned my lesson of trying to catch a falling knife yet."

Donnerboy: "These kind of threads never age well."

Me the next day: "And that 2%?
That's just 1% today.
(and I got two bargains!)"

Claudio: "Morons like you is how casinos exist. You lose $10,000 yesterday and then celebrate when you win back $3,000 today."

Me today: Bwhahahaha! LOL! {snort} HAHAHAHA!

Did Trump Say the Stock Market Would 'Crash' If Biden Won Election? (November 2020)
www.snopes.com

... Claim: U.S. President Donald Trump said that the stock market would "crash" if Joe Biden was elected president.

Rating: Correct Attribution

In the weeks leading to Nov. 3, 2020, U.S. presidential election, incumbent Donald Trump had wrongly predicted that if his political rival -- now-President-elect Joe Biden -- won the election, the stock market would crash.

According to Factbase, a database that collects Trump's statements, the outgoing president made that prediction numerous times.

For example, during the second presidential debate on Oct. 22, 2020, Trump had stated that if he was reelected, the stock market would "boom," and "If he [Biden] was elected, the stock market will crash." He made the claim again during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania on Halloween, saying, "If [Biden] gets in, the market will crash." ...

This is obviously because Harris is now leading in the polls and the market is reacting favorably.

Gee, I wonder what the Stock Market will do if Trump wins the electoral college and thus the White House November 5, 2024, since he will lost the popular vote by at least five million votes. If it were me, and I had a lot of wealth in stocks, I would be figuring on absolute chaos in America for years, and thus find a way to move it to more stable markets.
