I lived in Kentucky (Louisville) in the 70's (as I have noted many times previously here).

I found the people there to be quite great. And the downtown music scene of Louisville, well, it was great.

One weekend I took a drive out of Louisville to the more rural areas of Kentucky.

After driving around for a couple hours, I saw flashing lights in my rearview mirror.

I pulled over.

The officer came up to my car and asked me what I was doing in his town (yeah "his town") (fwiw, I had NY license plates on my car at the time).

I told him that I was just taking in the town.

He told me to "be careful" that he knows my ID.

Yeah, a week later i put KY plates on my car.

Of course, that then led me to another encounter, with my new home in upstate NY, with a state trooper who, in a similar manner, informed me to change my KY plates for NY plates.

But, to me, there was a difference in those two encounters.

In KY, based upon the conversation, it seemed like, ~we don't want your types here.~

In NY, it seemed more like, ~OK, you've been in NY for 6 months, you really need to re-register your vehicle.~

@#8 ... I tried accessing an amazing site that has documented progressive rock. But it seems to be a 404 now. ...

It now looks like a temporary outage...
