He did it because leaving stops the sex trafficking investigation of him. An investigation launched by his own party by the way.

The report about his conduct Gaetz sidetracked by resigning a couple of days before it was to be released? Will it be a Friday night or Sunday morning story?

from the article: The House Ethics Committee was in the final stages of its investigation into Gaetz over allegations of sexual misconduct and illicit drug use when Trump announced he picked him to lead the Justice Department, according to three sources familiar with the investigation.

Those sources told ABC News the committee was preparing to meet this week to deliberate over whether to release a final report on the matter.

House Speaker Mike Johnson announced later Wednesday that Gaetz offered his resignation from Congress effective immediately. With his resignation, the House Ethics Committee no longer has the jurisdiction to continue its investigation into him.

The point that is not discussed is why does it take 3-4 years to perform an investigation like this.

"McCarthy says Gaetz won't get confirmed: Everyone knows that'

McCarthy, a loyal Trump ally while serving in the House, was asked why the former president would bother tapping Gaetz if he knew the Florida Republican couldn't get confirmed.

"You can talk to [the] president, but it's a good deflection from others, but it also gives ... " McCarthy responded, cutting himself off. "I'll let it stand at that."

Pressed again for some insight into Trump's thought process, McCarthy said, "You'd have to ask the president, but Gaetz couldn't win in a Republican conference, so it doesn't matter."

What he may be referring to is that this was an out for Gaetz to resign without it having been because of the charges against him.

It's OK, though. Boebert is still avail for AG.

#7 I think that's right. Trump ias helping Gaetz get out of having the Ethics reports released by using the excuse he was going to be AG. AFter the Thanksgiving, Gaets is likely to withdrawal his name from consideration. . . .
