NYT reporter regrets Kavanaugh hit.

The message was surprising. David Enrich, an investigative reporter for The New York Times, was responding to a question I had sent him about his newspaper's 2018 coverage of the Brett Kavanaugh nomination. The Times had disgraced itself with its abysmal "reporting" on Kavanaugh. Enrich responded in a way that surprised me: "I've spent a lot of time thinking about my role in the Kavanaugh coverage, and I would be happy to talk to you about it at some point. For now, I will just say that I have learned some lessons and would probably do certain things differently next time." Wait ... what? Journalists never admit when they're wrong. About anything. Ever. Yet the substance and tone of his message suggested that of a contrite person who might believe he made mistakes. In my experience, this was an extraordinary statement coming from a reporter at the country's leading newspaper

"Do things differently next time"

Not report the truth because it will be covered up by Republicans and death threats will be sent.

Jeff is elated.

Ford lied her ass off.

Even her best friend when they were teens said as much even though she was pressured/threatened by Ford's legal team while she was in the hospital.

Ford should be indicted for perjury.

"Chronicles is a U.S. monthly magazine published by the Charlemagne Institute and associated with paleoconservative views.[1][2][3][4]

Its full current name is Chronicles: A Magazine of American Culture. It was founded in 1977 by the Rockford Institute. Today, the journal is published by the successor organization Charlemagne Institute. Since 2021, Paul Gottfried is the editor-in-chief.[5]

Chronicles has had close ties to the neo-Confederate movement.[6][7][8]

The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) said in 2017 that Chronicles "caters to the more intellectual wing of the white nationalist movement".[8

Journalists never admit when they're wrong.

Doesn't read like he's admitting to any wrongdoing.

I will just say that I have learned some lessons and would probably do certain things differently next time.

I'm sure being subject of MAGA propaganda and conspiracies leading to harassment and intimidation taught him a lot.

The truth is no longer objective.

If a rapist says he's not a rapist, and enough people are willing to believe them. That's all that matters.

Congratulations BullBringer, you MAGAts have ushered in an era of corruption and incompetence.

As republicans are famous for saying, "Rape babies are gifts from God!" So get out there and rape!

The only thing Corky is capable of is Googling hit pieces to attack the source. That's his entIre function in life.

Mark Judge is a biased source who testified in defense of his old friend Kavanaugh, even though he didn't want to... and you aren't nearly as smart as you seem to think you are:

"Mark Judge statements

Kavanaugh's friend Mark Judge also has made very weak denials. He also has a history of being a confessed alcoholic from a young age. He also has stated he does not want to testify on Kavanaugh's behalf.

Here are some statements Judge has made:"

Interesting read. Some of you could do that if wanted to.....but don't bother if you're incapable.

A NYT writer expressing regret? Hard to believe, I know.

Yes, the author has a real beef with Enrich and perhaps it's deserved.

Regardless, the obligation to get it right should be taken seriously if you're gonna drag up stuff from 30+ years previously in high school.

obvious lies.

The obvious lie was the implication by 5 of the 6 justices that they wouldn't change Roe V Wade because it was established law. Stare Decisis.

Given that Kavanaugh has proven himself to have zero credibility, I believe Ford was telling the truth.

Kavanaugh is a lying POS. His testimony proved that, and his lie to Susan Collins' face.

Hypothetically, if Ford was lying, Kavanaugh still isn't good enough to be in that court. He can't control his temper at all.

Why you defend him is beyond me.

He lied to Susan Collins in her office about keeping Roe V Wade.
He lied about not getting drunk underage, even when his calendar has him at drinking parties...when he was 17 and the age there in Maryland was 21 at the time.
He lied about "boofing" meaning to fart, when any college keg partier knows it means to put alcohol in your rear to get super drunk fast.

There's more here:

#48 | Posted by Alexandrite at 2025-01-08 12:06 AM

WASHINGTON " Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, and Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., criticized the Supreme Court's ruling Friday to eliminate the constitutional right to an abortion, after they voted to confirm Justices Brett Kavanaugh and Neil Gorsuch, two key votes in the decision to overturn a half-century-old precedent.

"This decision is inconsistent with what Justices Gorsuch and Kavanaugh said in their testimony and their meetings with me, where they both were insistent on the importance of supporting long-standing precedents that the country has relied upon," Collins said in a statement.

#49 | Posted by Alexandrite at 2025-01-08 12:09 AM

" He lied about "boofing" meaning to fart, when any college keg partier knows it means to put alcohol in your rear to get super drunk fast."

I was a college keg partner and never heard that term. Also, the internet didn't exist at the time so a lot of slang was localized. When I was growing up "beefed" was synonymous with farted.

I watched it in real time. All of it. He was visibly angry. Rightfully so. He wasn't out of control by any stretch.

The allegations were so incredibly thin to the point of absurdity. Ford lied about a number of things including her fear of flying (PTSD) two front doors so she could escape her own house (they rented a portion of the house and added a second front door to completely separate the ownedcand rented portions of the house). She named four witnesses, nine of who could corroborate her allegations. Worst of all, her best friend at the time, Flatly stated that she'd never, ever attended any kind of a party with him and didn't even know him, but was present according to Ford. Ford's legal team threatened her friend, while she was in the hospital, to air dirty laundry on her if she didn't play hall and she still held firm.

How did you expect him to respond to all of that? "Thank you, sir. May I have another?"

Clarence Thomas reacted angrily at the attempt to completely destroy him as well. That crap was every bit as bogus and disgusting.

Maybe you should consider taking a more critical view of these allegations.

PLEASE tell me you don't regard the Swetnick allegations as credible.

What did Boof have to say?

#65 | Posted by lee_the_agent at 2025-01-08 11:06 AM

WASHINGTON "In a public appeal for help, Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh has asked if "anyone has seen" a briefcase he accidentally left at a bar late last week.

#66 | Posted by lee_the_agent at 2025-01-08 11:09 AM

Speaking to reporters, Kavanaugh said that, after work last Friday, he dropped into a bar near the Supreme Court "to have a few pops," and inadvertently forgot to take his briefcase when he left.

Kavanaugh, who appeared to have some difficulty reconstructing the time line of the evening, said that he arrived at the bar "around seven" and that it was "ten, maybe ten-thirty when they asked me to leave."

The jurist was evasive when asked to describe the contents of his briefcase, saying only that it was "work papers and junk" that he would "really like to have back."
