Texas Republican Attempting to Kill Fewer Pregnant Women

Texas Republicans have proposed changes to the state's strict abortion ban they say would make clear that doctors can terminate pregnancies for serious medical risks without having to wait until a patient's condition becomes life-threatening.

NEW: The bill comes after ProPublica's reporting on the deaths of three Texas women. It specifies that doctors don't need to wait until an emergency is "imminent" to terminate pregnancies but leaves in steep penalties for those who violate the law. Kavitha Surana & @cassandrajaramillo.bsky.social

Texas Republicans have proposed changes to the state's strict abortion ban they say would make clear that doctors can terminate pregnancies for serious medical risks without having to wait until a patient's condition becomes life-threatening. The legislation comes in response to a ProPublica investigation last fall that revealed how three Texas women died after they did not receive critical procedures during miscarriages.
"But what about the precious babby? Nothing is more important than babby!

If women didn't want to die in child birth, they shouldn't have tricked Adam into eating that apple!"

Until then, sepsis for all you miscarriaging 8!+(#3$

Medical exemptions were there all along.
The problem here is lawyers practicing medicine and doctors not.

"Medical exemptions were there all along"

Vague exemptions written to give prosecutors latitude, and doctors' nightmares.

When the question isn't "What can I do to save this person", but rather "How long do I have to wait until THE PROSECUTOR thinks it's okay"...we've failed.

I propose new legislation for the great state of Texas.

As soon as a woman is discovered to be pregnant, they should be placed under constant supervision in an institution for all three trimesters.

If they give birth to a healthy baby, they can be released back into society to fend for themselves.

Any miscarriages or complications with pregnancy will result in the swift termination of the mother.

No exceptions.

Jeezus commands it!

Dan I believe it's the hospital lawyers not letting the doctors sign off on her condition.
If two doctors sign off, it's good, according to the law. Doctors' opinions are just that, and some theoretical 'bad guy' prosecutor is not in a position to contradict a doctor's medical opinion, particularly when corroborated by a second doctor.

The outrage is manufactured whole by TDS sufferers and it's they that have caused these women to go untreated.

"I believe it's the hospital lawyers"

Good! You got the prior link in the chain.

Now keep going back: Why would the hospital lawyers feel the need to stick their noses between the patient and the doctor?

I'll even give you a hint: 78701

"If two doctors sign off, it's good, according to the law."

Riiiiiight. Look up "joint and several liability" and get back to me.

Ultimately, the situation boils down to a non-medical question: is this decision worth risking my practice and my life?

Not the patient's interest, agreed?

#8 | Posted by Danforth at 2025-03-27 02:43 PM

" TDS sufferers ... have caused these women to go untreated."

OMG, you've gone stark raving nuts. 110% projection.

#9 | Posted by Danforth at 2025-03-27 02:45 PM

Why would the hospital lawyers feel the need to stick their noses between the patient and the doctor?

Because TDS, and attempting to lawfare counter to the will of the people as expressed by their representatives.

ItchyP blames all the woes in America on TDS.

It's easier than having to think and god knows Trump prefers the poorly educated.

Thanks for your service ItchyP. Your dedication to proving how ignorant you are is appreciated.

Trump on, Trumper!

OK let me offer a solution: One free no-fault abortion per woman, accompanied by simultaneous spaying.

#12 | Posted by itchyp at 2025-03-27 03:03 PM

For The Record, I am all-for abortion, for the same reason as Margaret Sanger was. But if the people's representatives decide to apply limits, I have to accept that as a function of democracy.

Daddysfist, you should be cheering on Epstein's wingman as he adds on to his already massive body count.

"If two doctors sign off, it's good, according to the law."

So Republicans are just wasting everyone's time, with these new las.
So this is yet another Hoax, being perpetrated by Republicans.

- a function of democracy.

Not to worry... Trump is taking apart all this democracy nonsense. Rwingers have been brainwashed that the US has nothing to do with democracy, because it is a republic, they are told, so they don't care.

And the idea of a democratic republic is way too complicated for them. Besides, the word democracy sounds way too much like democrat to be taken seriously.

" let me offer a solution: One free no-fault abortion per woman, accompanied by simultaneous spaying."

Another classic Republican Outreach to Women moment!

"let me offer a solution: One free no-fault abortion per woman, accompanied by simultaneous spaying."

And let me guess: no consequences for the guy.

Paging Margaret Atwood!

At least you can say it out loud. These "animal trough wipers' here who voted for Hillary can't even get close to the subject.

"For The Record, I am all-for abortion, for the same reason as Margaret Sanger was."

Sure. That's why you support the party that banned abortion in half the country.

#23 | Posted by snoofy at 2025-03-27 11:39 PM

Every liberal should get mandatory abortions for the next 20 years and then all problems will be solved

#24 | Posted by fortfisher at 2025-03-27 11:44 PM

Rape all conservative women for the next 20 years while you're at it!

#25 | Posted by snoofy at 2025-03-28 12:16 AM

@#19 ... I don't want to talk to you no more ...

So, your current alias seems to admit that is has nothing besides ad hominem attacks.

Good to know.

What nonsense is this? You do realize that conservative women occasionally have life-threatening complications with pregnancies?
