Back in the 80s, I was involved with a Theatre group which won several awards for shows they'd developed, including one which educated young kids about inappropriate touching.

The theatre won a grant, so they could offer the show free to smaller towns, which otherwise wouldn't have been able to afford it.

Most communities were thrilled. But the company was stunned when there was pushback, and how vehement some of the pushback was.

I can guess why.

That sounds like what someone who is molesting children would say, creepy.

This was to protect innocent kids; the story was a fantasy about an alien from a world without touch. It was a gentle lesson about empowering children to speak to a trusted adult if they weren't sure.

It's folks afraid to allow the kids to learn how to speak up for themselves who frightened the company the most.

It always seemed like they had something to hide.
