New: Gov. Greg Abbott was initially resistant to the plan pushed by President Donald Trump's political team to pick up new GOP seats through redistricting, according to two people who have spoken to Abbott and the White House about the discussions.

Texas GOP wasn't likely to do this until Trump needed some more Distractions; the estimate I saw showed they would lose most of what they gained in a costly redistricting by shoving minorities into bigger districts.
