I provided some real world, rather obvious, consequences of climate change that the right willingly ignores.

We will not stop emitting CO2. Even if we do, the Earth has initiated its own positive feedback loop.

Failing to adapt is going to make things suck a lot more.

So, the reassessments they are doing do have a thumb on the scale but it's on the dishonest reduction in the potential threat climate change poses.
