Why are so Many pro-Trump X Accounts Based in Asia?

Shocking to no one that's been paying attention. I've been saying foreign bot farm accounts have been active on social media including this site, for years.

More

"Influential pro-Trump X accounts that appeared to be U.S-based but actually operate from Eastern Europe, Asia, or Africa have spread 31 false claims about U.S. and global politics in the last 15 months," according to @newsguard.bsky.social www.newsguardrealitycheck.com/p/influentia ...

Would love for that feature to be active here.
There would be quite a few Ruskie bot/troll exposed.

@#1 ... Would love for that feature to be active here. ...

Yes, and no.

Reason for "yes" --- it will likely just expose what many already have suspected.

Reason for "no" --- VPN's.

OK, posting this comment, I am in CT.

Wih a simple click on the FoxyProxy icon on my browser's toolbar, I could appear to post comment from a different state.

If it is that easy for me, why couldn't a foreign alias use a similar pattern?

My guess would be a troll farm with people using something like FoxyProxy to appear to be where they are not.

OK, here I am someplace place.

All it took was a click or two on the browser toolbar.

And, now I'm back to my usual IP address.

@#3,4

For the techies among us, Wireguard is a cool program.

But you may already know that.

VPN endpoints are usually known, and could either be blocked or simply called out in the geolocation information provided.

A large percentage of pro-Trump posts on X are created by bots from outside the U.S.

Asian is benefitting from Trump's tariffs.

Have you seen what his tariffs have done to manufacturing in this country?

It's much easier to compete with US companies when US companies have to pay a much higher price for materials and parts for the things they manufacture under the Tariff President.

They may have some issues selling into the US right now but that's temporary with the TACO. Long term, US manufacturing jobs are being lost and will take a long time to return.

BIG win for Asian economies. The US plans its future in months. Places like China plan it in decades.

Xitter, not 'x'. The "X" in Xitter is pronounced "Sh".

MAGA has made America worse at home and abroad. The dollar and stocks are strong as ever in the current moment, though

Sounds like someone has been practicing Mandarin Chinese. :-)

Although there's actually two "sh" sounds. The one that uses 'x' in pinyin is softer, with a flat tongue. They always taught us to smile to make the pronunciation of it more distinct. Before pinyin, the sounds used be transliterated as "hs".

If someone stole what you produce for a living, are they a criminal?

More bots for the buck. These people are hell-bent on destabilizing the US and making Americans stupid with misinformation but Trump's okay with it because they say nice things about him.
