"Eastman, a prominent figure in conservative legal circles and a former clerk for Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, played a key role in developing and backing a plan for states to send pro-Trump slates of electors to Congress and have then-Vice President Mike Pence unilaterally block or delay the certification of Joe Biden's election victory.

"Eastman's wrongdoing constitutes exceptionally serious ethical violations warranting severe professional discipline," wrote California State Bar Court Judge Yvette Roland in her decision.

"Eastman made multiple patently false and misleading statements in court filings, in public remarks heard by countless Americans and to others regarding the conduct of the 2020 presidential election and Vice President Pence's authority to refuse to count or delay counting properly certified slates of electoral votes on January 6, 2021."

Judge Roland also criticized Eastman's defiant response to the allegations against him.

"His lack of insight into the wrongfulness of his misconduct is deeply troubling," wrote Judge Roland.

"While Eastman is entitled to defend himself, his conduct goes beyond this, revealing a complete failure to understand the wrongfulness of his actions."

Here's a scary though:

Eric Columbus
@EricColumbus

As you read this thread about disgraced coup plotter Jeffrey Clark, recall that Trump can and will bring Clark back even if disbarred. Nothing requires the Attorney General to be a member of the bar--or even a lawyer.

Same goes for SCOTUS. Lewzer could put Elon on there.

It's the least of what he deserves. Any argument?

Judge rules that Eastman knew--or should have known with minimal investigation--that the election fraud he was promoting was bogus:

Kyle Cheney
@kyledcheney

FACTUAL FINDINGS: The judge who ordered Eastman's disbarment spent the first 75 pages of her ruling explaining why Eastman's claims about election fraud were based on data that he did--or should have--known were unreliable, with even miminal due diligence.

A sampling:

1) Deceased voters in Georgia: The data Eastman used to claim 10,315 dead people voted did not account for high likelihood of false positives.

2) Convicted felons voting: Eastman relied on data showing 2,560 felons voting but also failed ot account for high likelihood of false positives.

3) Underage registrations: Eastman relied on data claiming 66,247 underage registrants, but it turned out to be based on an error and revised down to 778. It's not clear whether any of these 778 actually voted in 2020.

4) Eastman relied on a claim that 1,043 voters improperly registered with nonresidential addresses, but the data failed to account for some voters who live in commercial facilities or simply misunderstood registration forms.

5) Eastman claimed in his infamous 6-page memo that Michigan mailed out absentee ballots to every registered voter, eliding the fact that what was maield were *applications* for absentee ballots, not ballots themselves.

6) Eastman's Jan. 6 remarks on the Ellipse implied Dominion voting machine fraud even though he had seen no "conclusive" evidence that such fraud occurred.

As she repeatedly noted, Judge Roland said Eastman simply accepted favorable claims and ignored more persuasive rebuttals.

Another reason this judge's rulin regarding Eastman is significant:

Norm Eisen
@NormEisen

The Eastman disbarment rec weakens Trump in the fed 1/6 & GA prosecutions

The CA judge found that Eastman & Trump engaged in a conspiracy to overturn the election

That likely knocks out any advice-of-counsel defense by Trump

John Eastman should be in prison, along with Torture Memo author John Yoo.

This MFer ought to be rotting in PRISON. His crimes were far worse than any of Nixon's advisers who spent time in the grey bar hotel. He actively worked to overturn a free and fair election, this wasn't obstruction of justice or lying to the FBI, this was akin to treason!

Eastman appears so thick one wonders whether, through the smugness, he realizes he will be cited as an object of horror transformed into hilarity in law schools across the country. Hubris and Nemesis one, Eastman a neon zero.
