"Schumer forcefully made the case that it would be better for Biden, better for the Democratic Party, and better for the country if he were to bow out," Jonathan Karl said while reporting from the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee. Karl said there has been no denial from Schumer's camp. The senator's office said, "Leader Schumer conveyed the views of his caucus."

"One person who has been out there publicly defending Biden told [ABC Reporter Jonathan Karl] just a short while ago 'Biden is going to see the whole house of cards come down soon.'"

They are worried about losing both Houses of Congress.

So, their jobs.

In terms of timing, apparently this meeting with Schumer happened shortly before the Trump rally shooting.
"Chuck Schumer Told Biden to Go Just Before Trump Kill Bid: Report [...] Schumer had a private, one-on-one meeting with the president in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware on Saturday."

I suppose that's one way to look at it, as at least some Dem senators and reps would lose their elections. But not Adam Schiff, Chuck Schumer, or Hakeem Jeffries. I think these folks, and most of the worried Dems, are more concerned about the harm that Trump could wreak when enabled by both a GOP Congress and SCOTUS.

They would at least lose their Majority roles.

Whatever.

I don't really think it matters who the Democrats' candidate is as the only votes up for grabs are Indies, and they don't want either current candidate.

I said after his debate fiasco that Republicans are definitely stuck with Trump, but Dems can change candidates if they think they need to.

One poor debate performance by POTUS has led to this? So, if Pres. Biden steps down and Kamala Harris (or whoever the DNC convention selects) loses the Nov 2024 election (WH, HoR, and/or Senate), who will the DNC blame? Arm the circular firing squad. Regardless of Pres. Biden's age or health, his opponent is elderly, forgetful, and mangles his syntax as well, and his policies will not help working Americans.

An abstract regarding the 1944 DNC Convention:

"Despite the obvious physical decline in President Roosevelt's appearance, as well as rumors of secret health problems, FDR's fourth nomination as president was largely unchallenged. Roosevelt delivered his acceptance speech remotely, from a Pacific Coast naval base.

1944 was the last time a major party presidential candidate accepted a nomination remotely until Joe Biden accepted his nomination in 2020 from his home town of Wilmington, DE due to the COVID-19 pandemic."

This is an incredibly bad idea.

If you think you will lose down ballot with biden on the ticket you will lose even more with a replacement, this could be a true red wave.

Our nation is ------

Perhaps Corky is right and the DNP calls for Pres. Biden to resign are out of self-interest: keeping their jobs. But note that our Founding Fathers were not concerned about POTUS being too elderly, but too youthful.

And Pres. Biden's annual physical exam revealed no signs of trouble, according to his doctor, who said that this year's check-up "identified no new concerns."

Two more reflections:

1) This public message for POTUS to resign reminded me of D/FBI James Comey's 2016 public comments right before the election regarding candidate Hilary Clinton's e-mails. No good came from that, costing her the election. In NYC we call that a "hit job."

2) A constellation of generals and admirals wrote an amicus brief to SCOTUS regarding the incredible danger #45 poses to the Nation. Where are they now? Are they campaigning for POTUS? Are they being used for DNC ads?

What isn't?

Trump being held responsible for his crimes and criminality.

ironic. accusing another poster of having sleepless nights while posting at 4 AM. I'm assuming he's West Coast so it's more like 2 AM but still.......

4 AM. I'm assuming he's West Coast so it's more like 2 AM but still.......

Times zones can be tricky. There's a 3 hour time difference between eastern and pacific times.

I'll assume you can figure out 4 minus 3.

(Pro tip, it's not 2)
