Arizona officials who have stood up to false conspiracies lost their seats in key GOP primaries on Tuesday. The fate of Maricopa County's elections system will be decided in November.

Arizona's elections infrastructure has largely held up since 2020 amid a barrage of Trumpian lawsuits and extensive organizing by conservatives who falsely say that state elections are stolen from them. But the Arizona primaries underscored the potency in Republican politics of the false narrative that elections can't be trusted"and that something drastic has to be done about it.

A lot of those election deniers, including Rudy Colludy, will be going on trial in AZ on felony charges soon.

This may be another reason AZ is competing with Penn for the VP spot.

The election deniers facing charge from their actions in the 2020 election should be barred from any position to do with the 2024 election especially considering Trump's promise to paedon the Jan. 6 insurrectionists; so obviously he would pardon anyone who helps him steal the 2024 election. It's absolutely disgusting that they would even be considered for any position involving ekections.

Which is why I don't think picking Kelly as VP would even give Harris Arizona's 11 electoral votes.

Too much political cut --------- still going on.

Gov. Josh Shapiro and Pennsylvania's 19 electoral votes is a much safer bet and his popularity in Pennsylvania would deprive Trump of a state he desperately needs.

PA Gov. Josh Shapiro's 19 electoral votes does sound like a safe bet, but he may lose support elsewhere with the youth vote because of his ardent support for Israel. See first article below.

USATODAY organized a map of anti-Israeli protests throughout the US this year. Students demonstrated at approximately 60 university campuses. See second link below.

Mybe but that doesn't necessarily turn them into Trump voters. Niether Biden nor Harris has given Netanyahoo Carte Blanche support and have restricted arms shipments to Israel because of the human rights violations and the large numbers of Palestinian civillians killed in the Israeli slaughter. But Harris should probably chose someone besides Shapiro. Why take on his baggage if there are other good choices like Pete Buttigieg, which would probably provoke both Trump and Vance into revealing their homophobia, as if it is a secret. I believe most of Ameriva just doesn't want haters in the White House, wwell, other than the right wing White Christian Nationalist Nazis; they'd ptobably try to assasibate him for Jesus!

I don't necessarily disagree. However, if Harris doesn't win Pennsylvania, she has to win every other battleground state to reach 270 including Georgia. If she wins PA, she has numerous paths to 270 that doesn't necessitate a clean sweep.

So there's that. I wonder if Scranton Joe himself can help her win PA without Shapiro's help. That would open the door for any of the other 5.

Let's hope Uncle Joe can help secure the Keystone State for Kamala. Why KY Gov. Andy Beshear is not a top contender for the VPOTUS slot is a mystery to me. He seems to have a record of good governance and his wife and he are church deacons. Pete B is also a great choice. He'll run circles around JD Vance in a debate. Why deal with Josh Shapiro's baggage is right.

Nota Bene: The youth won't vote for the dotard, but they may cast a protest vote. Perennial Green Party POTUS candidate Jill Stein is considering either of two Arab-Americans from the swing state of Michigan as her VPOTUS running mate. In Nov 2016, she siphoned off 1,449,370 votes (0 electoral).

Harris has to do what is best for the country and right now, she is best for the country.

Pete Buttigieg brings his own anti-baggage with him. He's a nice enough guy and a great spokesman but he has no foreign policy nor executive experience. Harris needs a VP that she doesn't have to raise from scratch during these trying times.

Maybe Shapiro's pro-Israel stance could be another plus for Harris. Send him over to talk some sense into Netanyahu. I know it's not that simple, but the choice of Shapiro could soften the harsh relationship between the U.S. and Israel.

No matter what Harris does, she going to make somebody or some anti-group unhappy. She'll do whatever is overall best for the U.S.A. and democracy.

Good Morning TWINPAC

If Senators Chuck Schumer or Bernie Sanders couldn't talk sense to that desperate Likudnik, what chance would Josh Shapiro have?

BTW: Pete B. oversaw the massive Dept of Transportation successfully, was Mayor of South Bend, Indiana, and he was a USNR officer.

"Why KY Gov. Andy Beshear is not a top contender for the VPOTUS slot is a mystery to me.'

It shouldn't be. Kentucky isn't a swing state and only has 8 electoral votes.

And make no mistake. In spite of all the emotional reasons for this or that choice, electoral vote bean counting is a practical necessity if Harris expects to win.

I will trust you are correct.

FTA: "[Kamala's] interview list includes Govs. Andy Beshear of Kentucky, J.B. Pritzker of Illinois, Josh Shapiro of Pennsylvania and Tim Walz of Minnesota, as well as Sen. Mark Kelly of Arizona and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, according to two people with knowledge of Harris' selection process."

Simple.

Senators don't have the binding authority to speak for the President of the United States.

Shapiro will help VP Harris no matter what. IMO, Tim Walz would make a great pic. He was elected 7 times to what was formerly a ruby red House district. He has a 20+ year military record, was a high school teacher and football coach, and has that "everyman" quality about him where he's able to cut idiots down to size with an affable smile on his face.

AU

Tim Walz ~ not a bad choice. And Minnesota has 15 electoral votes. Still, it's a state with a history of voting Democratic. So, I wouldn't trade Pennsylvania for it, for reasons already stated ~ Trump's desperation for PA and the difference between 15 and 19 electoral votes.

It doesn't take much to lose that 270 marker by one vote.

And there's no shoulda, coulda, woulda in a presidential cage match to 270.

I realize that about MN, but Walz would be an excellent advocate in Midwest swing states ... and others.

He speaks their language, rural and urban. He grew up in a rural area, and his bio reads like "everyman" most people like whether or not they supported his candidacies.

If Shapiro isn't the VP nominee, he'll have loads of time to crisscross Pennsylvania and garner support. He's already the most popular governor in America. Those voters who put him in in a landslide will follow his lead.

PS - any of them are credible, qualified VP candidates who each bring a unique background and persona to the campaign trail.

Who knew that they would try to contest FloriDUH as
the craziest, dumbest state in the union?

Who knew?
