... More than a year and a half later, three former officers are facing a federal criminal trial over the deadly pummeling. That's in addition to allegations that they offered essentially no help as he slumped on a patrol car and onto the pavement, and claims that they lied or left out critical information to protect themselves from repercussions of the beating. Two other former officers have already pleaded guilty and could testify against their former fellow officers. The trial will heighten attention on a case that has already sparked outrage around the world and intensified calls for police reform in the city and the U.S. In an analysis of what the officers claimed happened on that night, The Associated Press sifted through hundreds of pages of evidence and hours of video from the scene, including officer body cameras. What follows is a visual comparison for four key moments. ...

Judge asks potential jurors if they can be fair toward 3 officers charged in Tyre Nichols' death www.newsnationnow.com
... Potential jurors in the federal trial of three former Memphis police officers charged with violating Tyre Nichols ' civil rights were asked Monday whether heavy media coverage and publicly released video of him being beaten to death could influence their ability to be fair. U.S. District Judge Mark Norris questioned jury candidates about what they think are the most important characteristics a juror should have and whether they would be biased in reaching a verdict. Tadarrius Bean, Demetrius Haley and Justin Smith have pleaded not guilty to charges that they deprived Nichols of his rights through excessive force and failure to intervene, and obstructed justice through witness tampering. The beating was caught on police cameras, triggering protests and calls for police reform. Two others have already pleaded guilty to the federal charges and could testify against them. Nichols, who was Black, died in a hospital on Jan. 10, 2023, three days after he was kicked, punched and hit with a police baton following a traffic stop. Police video released that month showed the five officers, who also are Black, beating Nichols as he yelled for his mother about a block from his home. Video also showed the officers milling about and talking with each other as Nichols sat on the ground, struggling with his injuries. The officers said Nichols was pulled over for reckless driving, but Memphis' police chief has said there was no evidence to substantiate that claim. ...

Ashlee Babbitt was a traitorous treasonous piece of ---- who got what she deserved. She tried to help overthrow the government and wreak havoc on America. Tyre Nichols was innocent and not harming anyone when the police chose to BEAT him to death.
It is -------- false equivalence for right wingers to try to equate true martyr like Nichols with a scumbag traitor like Babbitt. Swallow it scumbag.

I mean is a trial even necessary in this case? /snark
I listen to/watch Steve Lehto - short and simple he's a lawyer who has also taught in law school. He was talking about another lying police officer case where the officer came through a closed door into the person's home without a warrant. Lehto - "Jury's love video." As long as it is started early enough you get to see what is happening first hand. You can decide if this was reasonable.
Tyreek Hill is also going to have a blast with the police after seeing that video at least he is alive and uninjured. So many mistakes they made...
