Trump wants to turn a 'very large faucet' to get CA water
It's massive, the size of a large wall and takes a whole day to turn. That's how former president and Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump described a "very large faucet" that he hopes will redirect water from Canada down into California.

Trump's uninformed' water proposal is mocked on Canadian television www.dailykos.com
... A proposal by Donald Trump for California to use Canadian water sources like a "very large faucet" is being mocked by experts on engineering and politics in Canada. On Friday, at a press conference in Los Angeles, Trump was asked what he plans to do to assist Californians facing danger from wildfires. ... He then proceeded to offer a questionable solution. ... ... Trump: So you have millions of gallons of water pouring down from the north, with the snow caps and Canada, and -- all pouring down, and they have a -- essentially -- a very large faucet, and you turn the faucet and it takes one day to turn it, it's massive. It's as big as the wall of that building right there behind you. And you turn that, and all of that water goes into the -- aimlessly into the Pacific. And if they turned it back, all of that water would come right down here, and right into Los Angeles. ... Tricia Stadnyk, an environmental engineering professor at the University of Calgary, was skeptical of Trump's idea in an interview with Canadian news outlet CTV. "To me, it's an uninformed opinion," Stadnyk said. "It's somebody that doesn't fully understand how water works and doesn't understand the intricacies of allocating water not only between two countries but also for the environment." ...

Someone was watching Mad Max: Fury Road recently.
Trump definitely sees himself as Immortan Joe.
Turning on the faucet so the poor desolate people can drink some water.

That's interesting. I have traveled every mile of the Columbia River from here to Astoria, Oregon and I don't recall seeing this gigantic valve. Must be on a different river.
Not sure how the Fraser River could be diverted to Los Angeles, either, what with it being 1,100 miles away.
Lewzer just says any stupid thing he can think of that sounds good at the moment, doesn't he?

Sounds illegal. Sounds like Trumpy wants to steal Canada's water. Why would we vote for that? We like Canada. Trumpy is not even trying to win California's vote.
Well maybe the 600 wealthy homeowners votes whose houses that are sliding into the ocean that he promised to save. He was ranting for what seemed like hours about them on Fox. Even tho he would or could never do that either.

@#5 ... We like Canada. ...
I'd say it goes way beyond "we like Canada."
From my view, we have what I look at as the longest non-militarized border with our great neighbor to the north.
Among other things, we share critical mutual defense resources (can you say, "NORAD," I knew you could.)
I do not want that to change.
For example...
NORAD detects and tracks Russian aircraft operating in the Alaska Air Defense Identification Zone (September 14, 2024) www.norad.mil
... COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. " The North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) detected and tracked two Russian IL-38 military aircraft operating in the Alaska Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ) on Sept. 15, 2024. The Russian aircraft remained in international airspace and did not enter American or Canadian sovereign airspace. This Russian activity in the Alaska ADIZ occurs regularly and is not seen as a threat. An ADIZ begins where sovereign airspace ends and is a defined stretch of international airspace that requires the ready identification of all aircraft in the interest of national security. NORAD employs a layered defense network of satellites, ground-based and airborne radars and fighter aircraft to detect and track aircraft and inform appropriate actions. NORAD remains ready to employ a number of response options in defense of North America. ...
