... The chief of the US Space Force has warned that China is putting military capabilities into space at a "mind-boggling" pace, significantly increasing the risk of warfare in orbit.

"The number of different categories of space weapons that [China has] created and...the speed with which they're doing it is very threatening," said General Chance Saltzman, head of space operations at the US military's recently created force tasked with protecting American interests in space.

Saltzman spoke during a tour of Europe to raise awareness about the potential for conflict in space with powers including China and Russia and the need to cooperate with European allies to improve deterrence capabilities.

"One of the reasons you have a space force in the US now is in recognition of the last 20 years, [Russia and China] have developed and demonstrated the ability to conduct war fighting in space," he said. The Space Force was established in 2019 by then-president Donald Trump, who is vying for re-election next week.

The US military has long been using space-based assets for communications and missile targeting. For China, space has become an increasingly crucial domain in its quest to put one of the US military's traditional strengths at risk. ...

When you support and abet an ongoing genocide, it's very, very difficult to take a convincing moral and strategic stance and convince other countries of what they should and should not do to protect themselves from perceived external threats.

And when there's a constant flow of misinformation seeping from the highest levels of your own government and major societal institutions it's very, very difficult to inform your increasingly skeptical citizenry and get them to buy into what you claim to be the best way to protect them.

The Space Farce.

Another expansion of the federal government by the folks who claim to hate big government and who will later (at budget time) call for a reduction in government spending (blaming it on the Democrats of course).

Not REALLY an expansion. Just a split from the Air Force...

Not to fear. Elon is going to fix big government by creating yet another Cabinet level department to fix it. Just like "Homeland Security" made everything more efficient.

Not as huge as the DHS (also by a Republican ) but an expansion nonetheless. At least according to my GOOD GUY AI.

Yes, the creation of the Space Force did technically expand the federal government by establishing a new military branch, adding another layer of bureaucracy and personnel to the Department of Defense, although the extent of this expansion is considered relatively small compared to other government agencies.

I won't disagree with that. But I wouldn't trust any AI for anything fact based. I will also say DHS was a massive expansion and restructure - also ironically a small government Republican effort.

That said it is irrelevant to what is going on in orbit and that the Chinese and Russians are indeed building orbital warfare capabilities.

And while that is true i believe what is going on in orbit is basically irrelevant compared to what is going on in cyberspace and especially with Chinese advances with AI.

If you don't now (you probably do and don't know it) you soon will.

Whether you like it or not.

BTW- My GOOD GUY AI provides me links to it's source so I can verify what it tells me.
