Yawn. It's Trump Time now.

Gaetz is mainstream to these folks. He will be approved and enforce the law.

New American Reality.

GrosslyAbused thinks this dumb sl*t should shut her stupid lying mouth.

Besides, GrosslyAbused would have loved to be raped when she was 17.

Unfortunately for her, she's ugly.

Rep Gaetz resigned his seat this week.

Did he resign only from the 118th Congress that finishes up at the end of December?

He was elected to serve in the 119th Congress that begins January 3, 2025

Does his resignation carry over to the 119th also?

If it does, then he has a seat to return to should he not get the AG position.

They seem to be chomping at the bit to hold a special election to fill his seat.

@#7 ... They seem to be chomping at the bit to hold a special election to fill his seat. ...

But a special election is at least six weeks away, i.e., likely after the 119th convenes.

likely after the 119th convenes.

That indicates to me that his resignation carries over to the next Congress. Nothing to stop him from running again, I suppose.

OK, you may be correct, but only for a different reason. ...

Fmr Rep Gaetz specifically said his resignation also applies to the 119th Congress.

www.cbsnews.com

... In the letter, later obtained by CBS News, Gaetz wrote: "I hereby resign, as United States Representatives for Florida's First Congressional District, effective immediately, and I do not intend to take the oath of office for the same office in the 119th Congress, to pursue the position of Attorney General in the Trump Administration." ...

So it seems he had to also explicitly state his intent not to take the Oath of Office for the 119th, i.e., his resignation from the 118th did not carry-over to the 119th.

Interesting.

thx for the discussion. :)
