Ahead of any interruption in benefits, "people should start saving now," [former commissioner and former Maryland Gov. Martin] O'Malley said.

I'm told by MAGA that this is another Can't Make an Omelet Without Cracking Eggs moment.

Too bad there are no more eggs.

But as I consider it, maybe in Trump/MAGA world "eggs" refers to people?

Yeah, those will start cracking for sure.

Trump is a bull in a china shop.

And we are the china.

Should TrumpCo thoughtlessly end SS, it would mean systemic starvation and eventual homelessness of untold elderly Americans, myself included. You Trump fanatics should realize what that incomprehensible scenario would mean to the vast majority of the old school republican voter base should TrumpCo go forward with the dismantlement of this social safety net.

I suspect it will be even worse than that.

There are 400 million guns in America.

It has been said: "No society is more than three (or sometimes nine) meals away from revolution"

Not sure whether that is true but many Americans are just a paycheck away from homelessness and there is a critical mass whereby the hoi polloi will begin to rebel.

Which is easier? Selling your gun for food and shelter or just taking it with that gun.

Depends on whether or not you're confident the homeowner isn't armed themselves.

Anyway, a potentially volatile situation.

Best case scenario is massive upheaval as we return to multi-generational households against our will as a means of resource pooling to survive.

This cynic has long discounted Social Security being available for me in retirement. My spouse and I have saved a long, long time for that day when we would leave the world of work. We will survive, but millions of our fellow citizens will not, not even for a short amount of time. I'll wager that the most frightening thing any MAGA politician could ever imagine is a large crowd of senior citizens rolling down the street in their wheel chairs, protesting the present situation. All those MAGAts will realize that they are out of jobs...
