Ed Martin who is acting US Att't General for DC sent a letter to Georgetown Law demanding the school end all DEI efforts or risk a hiring freeze from his office. This is the US Government telling a private Jesuit institute what they are allowed to teach.

Attacking the preeminent law school in the world, known for its expertise in constitutional law, on what's clearly unconstitutional on the part of the US Government does not strike me as particularly intelligent.

Brilliant move, Eddieboy! /s

"This is the US Government telling a private Jesuit institute what they are allowed to teach."

I'm sure all our resident posters who love to screech CENSORSHIP will be here any moment, decrying and condemning this clear government overreach.

Or they'll continue carrying water.

Tough call.

The older Jesuits, who used to run the Vatican's intelligence agency (AKA the "Entity") have historically opposed the newer rightwing Opus Dei founded by a Francoist in Spain. In 2022, the first ever Jesuit pope, Francis, reduced the power of Opus Dei. Some SCOTUS justices have been linked to Opus Dei.

The "Sharia Supreme" name makes total sense now.

Hi Yav: Here is another source if you are interested. Indeed, SCOTUS decisions make more sense now: churchandstate.org.uk

Seeing all those decisions laid out one after another in that framework is both clarifying and depressing. Thanks for that link, Coriolanus.

OK, I may quibble at the "... Attacking the preeminent law school in the world..." because I do not know that at this point.

But that aside.

And going back to the topic of this thread ...

Ed Martin who is acting US Att't General for DC sent a letter to Georgetown Law demanding the school end all DEI efforts

Whoa, wait.

What role does Acting AG Martin have in dictating any efforts of Georgetown Law?

None. Let's see him stop a bullet.
