Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Saturday, April 05, 2025

A federal judge ruled today that the Trump administration, including U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, violated his court order to unfreeze Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) relief to at least 19 states. The judge says the administration appears to be making a "covert" effort to punish states who oppose Trump's oppressive immigration practices. The federal reluctance applies only to states with Democratic attorneys general, and McConnell found the Trump administration ignored his March court order, with at least 19 states submitting "undisputed evidence" they were not receiving FEMA funds appropriated by Congress. Hawaii reported that FEMA had yet to respond to its $6 million request and subsequent $500k reimbursement for climate-related wildfires. The state of Oregon, meanwhile, reported that FEMA had yet to respond to a request for $129.4 million in federal funds for wildfires, severe winter storms, flooding, and mudslides.

This ruling plus others will demonstrate the Trump administrations refusal to honor court rulings. Since the court has no enforcement power, we have our constitutional crisis. The only way it can be resolved is if congress changes hands next year and dems will surely cite these refusals as evidence of abuse of power. Maybe by then, there will be enough republicans in the senate to go along with dems to convict him and kick him out of office. I suspect that the country, especially red states, will be in such turmoil by then that hopefully there will be very little political support to keep him in office.

I see that as a very large possibility, given current events.

We SAW what the man did the last time he was cast from power.

We may have to depend upon the loyalty of the Armed Forces to keep our country and Constitution.

Saying that makes me realize how far we have fallen.

Blue states should withhold payroll taxes from the federal government, putting that money in their own emergency management funds. It's what Maine threatened to do when the orange diaper dumper threatened to withhold federal funds over their refusal to follow his illegal trasgender athlete EO. Also the courts need to start holding Drumpf regime officials deemed responsible for violating these court orders in criminal contempt and locking them and the DOJ lawyers up.

If Putin were dictating all of this...

...What would Trump be doing differently?

Yup. This administration is proving that good faith participation was the only thing that made our Constitutional system worked.

All of the safeguards are proving to be toothless in the face of someone who gives the Constitution the finger and says "try me."
