San Antonio Food Bank's president and CEO Eric Cooper told Grist he is consumed by concern that they may not be able to meet the emergency food demand prompted by the flooding tragedy in central Texas. "Prior to this disaster, we just don't have the volume of food in our warehouse that we need to have," said Cooper, noting that they are "struggling to keep up" with the demand intensified by the deluge. "We have had to try to pivot a little bit to ration some of what we do have across the population we serve so that we can stretch [our supply]," he added. "USDA cuts have made it harder to keep up. The flood will make it even more difficult. Pending SNAP cuts feel like it will be impossible."
Texas gets what it voted for.

Per Wiki, 61% of eligible Texan voters cast their ballot on 5 Nov 2024, down 5.58% from 2020. 6,393,597 (56.14%) chose Dummkopf Trumpf; 4,835,250 Texans opted for Kamala Harris (42.46%).
Why aren't more Americans voting in US national elections that have serious consequences on their quality of life?

61% is pretty good by current standards, from what I've seen.
But my guess is that this thread's topic is elsewhere.

Why do voters seem to willingly vote in favor of politicians that seem to want to hurt them and their interests?

Listen to them here. Hurting people is all they understand. They come from the "my parents spanked me and I turned out fine" side of life.

I do not disagree.
As I have stated previously, Pres Trump seems to be all about cruelty.

He conned them into voting for a sociopath.
This is the result of the dumbing down of American society since the 1980's.

Texans have frozen to death because of MAGA. Texans have drowned to death because of MAGA. Now some of us will starve to death because of MAGA.

Because people are stupid and vote on vibes.
Republicans give them an enemy: all those leaches and deadbeats. And THEY are not the deadbeats. It's those people over there that are.
Democrats are too stupid to do this. We know the enemy is Republicans and the mega-rich but Democrats are too stupid and beholden to the mega-rich to say it.
Want proof? Look at New York. The Dems are attacking Mamdani right alongside Republicans.
