The Trump administration's approval of a Qatari air force base in Idaho isn't popular with either of America's political parties.

At least Trump got a free jet and a $5.5 billion golf resort in Qatar, so there's that.

Mountain Home is a US base. Home of the 366 Fighter Wing. It is also the home of a Singaporean F-15 squadron. It also used to be where the Luftwaffe had it's Fighter Weapons School.

I'm not sure what the big deal is. Non-US partners have squadrons at US bases across the country. I work with them all the time. And that's just on the Air Force side. I'm sure it's the same with the other services.

I trained with militaries from all over the globe while in the Army. I like that we share tactics and equipment usage unfortunately many of these countries we had worked with over the years are really not allies and eventually go on to use our own tactics and equipment against us in the end.

That's where Osama bin Laden got the idea to fly planes into the WTC.
The CIA pitched him that idea during the Soviet-Afghan War, to hijack a Tupolev and fly it into the Kremlin.

Used to work with FASOTRAGRUPAC training foreign and domestic troops in anti submarine warfare.

I was always uncomfortable with training Russians. Never trusted them. Still don't. Was more comfortable with Iranians. But never trusted them either.

Never liked the idea of teaching our adversaries how to defeat us.
