"Thus, the tape helps establish Defendant's intent and motive for making the payment to Daniels and then attempting to conceal them," the ruling said.
Trump is facing 34 felony counts of falsifying business records after being indicted by a Manhattan grand jury.
In court documents unsealed April 4, prosecutors alleged Trump engaged in a "scheme" to boost his chances during the 2016 presidential election through a series of hush money payments made by others and the falsification of New York business records to cover up that alleged criminal conduct."

If I advised or assisted a client to claim $130,000 in "legal expenses" for a hush money payment, I'd be barred from advising tax clients.

Well, they're still trying to open a case (of sorts). They just changed the name to Hunter Biden.

How long before Trump shows up in court in a robe and slippers like Vinny The Oddfather Gigante?

Then I guess a judge would adjourn pending a psychological review.
I don't think he'd do that. It would destroy his "strongman" image and cost him the election.
BTW
That's the same reason he won't file bankruptcy in his Trump Org fraud case. It would ruin his image.
Trump is still holding out hope for an anonymous bailout. Tomorrow (Friday) may be his last day. Saturday and Sunday are weekends and Monday, March 25 starts at 12.01 am. I say "Friday" because Trump is paranoid and may not trust Fanni Willis not to start filing her paperwork by 12:02.
He did the same thing in the E. Jean Carroll bond filing on a Friday.

That's the thing. Trump's campaign will eventually fail because of the lack of $$$. The old man will feign mental illness to get out of a long sentence. Trump's veneer as a billionaire strong man is finished as of Monday morning.

He may flee the country... he's more popular in Israel than Nuttyyahoo.
Plus, that's just where the antichrist would go.

Court penalties and fines can't be included in a bankruptcy filing.
No, bankruptcy would not get Trump out of paying his civil fraud penalties Former President Donald Trump would still be liable to pay his civil fraud penalties even if he or the Trump Organization declared bankruptcy. (NBC affiliate has more): www.king5.com

Yeah, I knew something like that had to be involved.
Trump seemed to be worried that the media would make hash out of that "businessman" image he likes to brag about.
And he'd probably be right. As if they haven't caught on already.

Ya, Trump can't wriggle out of fines owed to the government by declaring bankruptcy.
AND, since the Trump Org has a former federal judge as a "monitor," they can't hide money or shift it around without her knowledge. Judge Ordogon has ordered bank statements, the source(s) of funding for any bond, and other financial records be delivered to the court every month, and the monitor provides reports as well.
Trump is financially FUBAR'd.

Judge wants details on any Trump Organization attempts to secure a bond in its civil fraud case
Judge Arthur Engoron said he wants the company to inform the court-appointed monitor in advance of "any efforts" to get a bond.
www.nbcnews.comIf some Russian oligarch or Saudi prince gives Trump the money, Judge Erdogon will know and see the receipts.

"If some Russian oligarch or Saudi prince gives Trump the money, Judge Erdogon will know and see the receipts."
Well, that's going to put Manafort out of a job.
And Trump's Super PAC, too. The media reported yesterday that the Save America PAC spent $360,000 on legal fees just in the month of February and is now operating in the red and deeply in debt.
So, my point is, Trump needs more than just a half billion dollars to keep himself from drowning in debt.
His next best bet is that merger going through and Trump Social going public. That sale could net him about $3.5 billion dollars and make him solvent again sometime down the road.

Read this morning the merger has been approved. However, he can't sell shares for at least 6 months. And that whole scam is a submarine with screen doors. The SPAC (Special Purpose Acquisition Company) set up to buy Truth Social lost $26 million. This is nothing but a meme stock currently in a bubble that's bound to burst. It'll be worth little to nothing as time goes on.
As one lawyer put it, "By the time Trump is able to start selling his shares, I doubt they will be worth much," Quinn said. "Certainly less than his present requirements."
