... It's not an exaggeration to say that cars are getting more advanced with each model year. From infotainment growth to semi-autonomous driving technology, manufacturers are adding features in each cycle, and often charging for them too. However, automated emergency braking systems will be a federally mandated standard . . . by 2029. Following the finalization of a new Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is announcing the new safety standard for all passenger cars and light trucks by September 2029. secretary buttigieg makes announcement on fuel economy standards Drew Angerer|Getty Images Notably, the federal standardization of automated emergency braking systems includes pedestrian-identifying emergency braking, too. Once implemented, the NHTSA projects that this standard will save at least 360 lives a year and prevent at least 24,000 injuries annually. Specifically, the federal agency claims that rear-end collisions and pedestrian injuries will both go down significantly. ...

Many cars do this. People blink or get distracted, cameras do not. I am ok with this.

It saved me from a nasty accident not too long ago. I am all in favor!

Modern safety features cut my car insurance in half.

That's a scary thing. What happens if it goes on the blink when you are at highway speed and it brakes all of a sudden?? I'd be worried about that.

If that was a thing, your hear about it happening.
In other words, my car insurance would not have down if automatic emergency braking was not a proven technology.

Bought a new vehicle that has this feature about a year and half ago. I've got the warning a time or few but never had it engage the brakes automatically. Hopefully never will need it but glad to have it.

Not on the highway but I hate it when my wife's car panics and there is nothing to panic about but doesn't do anything when there is... Just saying I have experienced it a couple of times. When I say nothing, I mean a car is rolling into a turn lane or is in one and the car alerts or brakes. Curves are the best for this. I have been cut off on the expressway with adaptive cruise on and had the car nose dive as well.

More of the same. The left is crazed with zealous stupidity and a desire to tell you what to buy and what to think. I trust my own instincts and driving over mandates from Chinese made junk that inevitably will gives us failed control over our vehicles.I refuse to accept anything from leftists.
