I've been on an "eating through history" YouTube/recipe kick recently, and into the 21 century, most of our politicians in Congress eat garbage - I don't even want to waste ingredients or time on the cookware to cook the slop that some of them call their favorite dishes.

Because of the pay wall all I got to read is that Rep. Buddy Carter sleeps in his office and thinks all other Congressmen shold too. His salary is $74,000 per year so why can't he rent a room somewhere in Washington? i don't honestly care why he thinks this is a good idea so when the pay wall blocked ne from reading his entire op-ed about why he sleeps in his office.

When I worked in Washington, my salary was $160K a year and I still needed a room mate. I also had another household in N.C., but $75K isnt what you think it is, especially in D.C.

If I recall correctly, Paul Ryan did this as well.

The only way most congresspeople could possibly afford a nice home in D.C. as well as a nice home in their home district is corruption. The only other ways are sharing a flat with room-mates or Daddy's Trust Fund.

His salary is $74,000 per year is why he can't rent a room in Washington. At that income level, maybe he could afford a place somewhere in West Virginia.

When I was still in the military, a girl who worked for me went to work in DC. Her and her husband paid something like $1.4M for their house in the city.
