Is it scientific impossibility or simply human ego that stops us from entertaining the idea of extraterrestrial visitation?

In recent times, the discourse surrounding UFOs has undergone a notable shift away from outright dismissal. NASA has shown increased interest in the phenomenon, and even the New York Times engages with the topic. However, the assertion that we're currently experiencing extraterrestrial visitation remains largely met with skepticism; observers often dismiss it as delusional. The notion that UFOs might represent encounters with extraterrestrial life or other extraordinary entities continues to elicit astonishment among the general public. This article aims to challenge this prevailing sense of astonishment.

Belief is not reality. That requires reproducible observations. You know, facts.

Let's say there are aliens.

Why would they come here?

If the universe is teaming with life, coming here is like traveling 4 hours deep into the woods to inspect an ant hill. There are all over. I can see one in my backyard.

You really don't want aliens from the across the great expanse coming here.

If aliens really could cross the huge gulf between any potentially inhabited planets then their tech would be so far ahead of us we would just end up as their slaves. Or dinner.

I see your point Donnerboy, but;
What use to us are ants, as slaves?
Honeybees, now that's a different story...

Spoiler alert:

In the end, the aliens require all black people to strip down to a single article of clothing before boarding the ship. The story pointedly says they leave the United States in the same way their ancestors had arrived. As ship's cargo.

More people on planet Earth firmly believe in an invisible almighty God that no one has ever met or photographed than they do of the potential for extra-terrestrial life. The late Stephen Hawking warned NASA and other space agencies NOT to send probes into outer space describing the location of earth, concerned that alien entities may be more like Christopher Columbus and less like Leonardo da Vinci. Either or both of the Voyager I and II deep space probes had charts of our solar system and an illustration of man on the side: llllline.com

UFOs are there; they exist. No problem believing in them. The rub is what theory of UFOs? What are they?

Not enough information to say. Even after seventy-plus years of worrying about them.

Even ants have their uses.

Many human cultures make use of ants in cuisine, medication, and rites. Some species are valued in their role as biological pest control agents. Their ability to exploit resources may bring ants into conflict with humans, however, as they can damage crops and invade buildings. (AI answer)

Ants are eatable but there isn't much meat on an ant. But there are a ------- of them!

What Are UFOs?
www.pbs.org

... For decades UFOs have captivated the public, even as many scientists saw them as too taboo to investigate. Now, after highly publicized sightings of unidentified objects by Navy pilots, UFOs are moving out of the shadows and into the light, as NASA pledges to study them scientifically.

So what does science have to say? Though some are identified as balloons or drones, weather phenomena, or optical illusions, others remain mysterious.

Could they be the result of secret new technology developed by other governments " or our own? And what would it take for alien engineers to traverse vast distances to send probes or visit Earth from other solar systems?

Explore the evidence, as astrophysicists and engineers use new technologies to investigate the strangest objects in our skies. (Premiered January 22, 2025 at 9 pm on PBS) ...

It is an interesting NOVA. I saved it on the DVR here. YMMV.
