Israel had planned to strike Iranian nuclear sites as soon as next month but was waved off by Trumpf in recent weeks in favor of negotiating a deal with Tehran to limit its nuclear program, the New York Times reports. Trumpf made his decision after months of internal debate over whether to pursue diplomacy or support Israel in seeking to set back Iran's ability to build a bomb, at a time when Iran has been weakened militarily and economically. As predicted, Trumpf cannot please two masters at the same time, so Putin trumps Netanyahu on the issue of attacking Iran. Tehran and Moscow are allies and economically enmeshed. For now, Netanyahu will just have to settle for the American taxpayer spending billions on obliterating the Shia Houthis, as that won't affect the Kremlin's investments in Iran. www.reuters.com |
