Nearly half of the longshoremen who support operations at the port went without work over the last two weeks, Gene Seroka, executive director of the Port of Los Angeles, said in an interview.

The bankruptcy-prone orange turd did that.

"In the long term, Trumpism is doomed. Power without prudence and humility invariably fails. Nations, like people, change not when times are good but in response to pain. At a moment when Trumpism seems to be devouring everything, the temptation is to believe that this time is different."

We haven't even really begun to feel the effects of Trump's stupid trade war. Businesses don't know what to do, the prices of everything from Canadian 2x4's for home construction to auto parts to steel that goes into making a panoply of products are going up up up, causing insurance premiums to also rise

This stupid trade war is going to boomerang through just about every facet of consumer and industrial goods.

And killing the "de minimus" exemption means a myriad of what were once low cost goods now have steep tariffs.

The de minimis exemption is a customs provision that allows certain low-value imports into the United States to be exempt from tariffs and other import duties. Specifically, it allows goods valued at $800 or less (per person, per day) to enter the US without paying duties, according to Avalara Tax. This exemption, authorized by Section 321 of the Tariff Act of 1930, simplifies the import process for low-value goods and reduces administrative burdens.
American manufacturers were enticed to move production overseas thanks to Bush/GOP tax laws.

BTW, China controls 90% of rare metals used in the vast majority of electronics from phones to computer chips and a slew of others.
