Protesters risked being shunned by society to warn that Haiti is running out of HIV medication months after the administration of President Donald Trump slashed more than 90% of USAID's foreign aid contracts and $60 billion in overall aid across the globe.

I feel bad after seeing those sad pictures. I didn't even know there was a war raging in Sudan! Whose side are we on? How is it my responsibility?
I hope we're arming somebody there to help end the suffering.
Is Haiti in Sudan too?

"Before the war, Jubarra said, she scraped by, selling falafel while her husband was a trader at the local market. When RSF fighters took over their neighborhood, they burned 200 homes, including hers, she said, and beat her husband, brother and eldest son so badly they fled" ... without taking her and the children. That's sad.

reminds me of Sudanese in another age,
" he besought them with many words not to desert the gods of their fathers and their children and wives. Then one of them, so the story goes, said, pointing to his manly part, that where this should be they would have wives and children. "

There's "soft power."

And there's "hard power."

Hard power is sending our great service people to Iran to drop bombs.

Soft power is trying to prevent the need for that approach.

USAID was soft power.

Sooo, if we feed and provide medical care for 'nations' which are perennially hungry and sick, which can't take care of their basic needs, then we won't have to bomb somebody? This makes no sense, other than to the people involved in the business of administrating such aid who collect administrative fees and reddit gold virtue signal points.
Does your model account for those nations which are simultaneously bombed and fed? Both of these processes generate profit and overhead.

"In 2023 the USAID reported 2886 employees making more than $100000 per year; the average salary was $112258."

Many Americans kick their own children out at 18. When will we to allow these 'developing nations' to survive on their own? We have hungry, sick, people on our own streets, yet to signal virtue we tax everybody for the benefit of hopeless overseas hellscapes which are Never Going To Change.
If we try to feed a hungry Sudan, the result is not a fed Sudan; it's another three hungry ones.

"We have hungry, sick, people on our own streets"

And we're about to have a lot more.

"When will we to allow these 'developing nations' to survive on their own?"

I guess your point is that works so well for America, with all those hungry, sick people on the streets.
