Trump Fires Arts Board in Charge of Reviewing Ballroom & Arc

Donald Trump has fired all six members of an independent federal agency responsible for reviewing his controversial White House ballroom and planned "Arc de Trump" in Washington DC. A White House official told the Guardian: "We are preparing to appoint a new slate of members to the commission that are more aligned with President Trump's America First Policies.

The White House on Tuesday fired all six members of the Commission of Fine Arts, an independent federal agency that would have reviewed President Trump's ballroom construction project, a White House official confirmed to NBC News.

More: The Commission of Fine Arts was established in 1910, and is tasked with "giving expert advice to the President, the Congress and the federal and District of Columbia governments on matters of design and aesthetics", according to its website.

Its purview includes reviewing designs proposed for memorials and new or renovated government buildings, and the commission is intended to be staffed by experts in art, architecture and urban design. There is no indication about whom Trump plans to appoint to the commission.

The location is overlooked by Arlington House, the former home of Robert E Lee, who led the army of northern Virginia on the Confederate side during the civil war. Various statues of Lee were removed after the Black Lives Matter protests of 2020.

But, Trump added:

"That's Arlington Memorial Bridge and, at the end of it, you have a circle that was built 150 years ago ... In 1902, they were going to put a statue of Robert E Lee up ... would have been OK with me " would've been OK with a lot of the people in this room."

imo, Pres trump's America First has a main aspect of obsequious adulation of Pres trump, first and foremost.

Foreign leaders seemed to have picked up on that.
