Bob Trumpy, who parlayed a 10-year career in the NFL as a tight end with the Cincinnati Bengals into a Hall of Fame broadcasting career, has died. He was 80.

Trumpy was very popular in Cincinnati for many years, as a player and then a broadcaster. Civic-minded, a gentleman and he grew into becoming a good broadcaster, on radio and television. The original Bengals were cobbled together from cast-offs and high draft choices, but many of them--Trumpy included--played above expectations for years. His play for Paul Brown gained the coach's admiration, and Brown was a tough guy to please. His was a life well lived. RIP...
