Now that's rich. All gerrymandering is anti-Democratic, in my view, and SCOTUS really blew it in Rucho by permitting it, but GOP lawsuit to block it in California while using it in other states is the height of hypocrisy. www.nytimes.com/2025/11/05/u ...

... California state Republicans have taken legal action after voters on Tuesday approved Democratic-drawn maps for the next three elections, alleging intentional redistricting to favor Latino and Hispanic voters in the way the now-approved districts were redone. ...

The Republicans started this redistricting push, and now they are whining because their own tactics are being used against them?

Republicans prefer this method of suppressing those who usually do not vote for them ...

U.S. Appeals Court Strikes Down North Carolina's Voter ID Law (2016)
www.npr.org

...The appeals court noted that the North Carolina Legislature "requested data on the use, by race, of a number of voting practices" -- then, data in hand, "enacted legislation that restricted voting and registration in five different ways, all of which disproportionately affected African Americans."

The changes to the voting process "target African Americans with almost surgical precision," the circuit court wrote, and "impose cures for problems that did not exist."

The appeals court suggested that the motivation was fundamentally political -- a Republican legislature attempting to secure its power by blocking votes from a population likely to vote for Democrats....

You want to sue about a VOTER APPROVED referendum, overturning the voters wishes.

Good luck with that.

California does that all the time.

Is that why you didn't provide even one example?

@#4 ... overturning the voters wishes. ...

Republicans have shown that they want the GOP politicians to choose the voters, instead of having voters choose the politicians.

@#4 ... overturning the voters wishes. ...

This is a CA ritual.

I mentioned this before, and DonorBot lost his ----.

CA even voted overwhelmingly for Proposition 36, and Newsom won't fund it, because, get this, he didn't even put it in the budget.

Governor Gavin Newsom leaves Prop 36 funding out of revised budget
www.capradio.org

Can anyone sue? What's the point in propositions if the government doesn't implement them?

But illegal immigrants on the dole for health insurance, MORE MORE MORE....Which BTW CA voted against in prop 187 but was overturned by the courts ....

As I have stated CA is a poor reference for "democracy in action".

"We are getting a lot of questions about the U.S. government shutdown that began on October 1, 2025, after a bipartisan failure to reach a deal to fund the government.

The main point reporters are trying to fact-check is whether or not extending Advanced Premium Tax Credits (APTC) and reversing health care cuts in H.R. 1 would increase health coverage for undocumented immigrants.

The answer is no."

There's nothing wrong with disallowing an unconstitutional amendment. Dumbass.

And if I recall, they did so WITHOUT a referendum.

Yeah, lawsuits are filed constantly. But actual overturns, as pointed out by Fresno? Once every couple of decades if the thing's blatantly unconstitutional. Prop 187 and Prop 8 are famous precisely because they're exceptions, not the rule.

If I'm not mistaken, there is a Gerrymandering case before the Supreme Court, I think it's from one of the Carolinas, that would allow a State legislature to redistrict as they see fit. In other words, they wouldn't even need to have a vote on it like in California.

So it will be interesting to see how the Supreme Court only lets Red states do that.

What's the point of a constitution if republicans can just ignore it and run an insurrectionist for president, which the constitution explicitly forbids?

As I have stated before commie agitator quit lying about state.

Hurry back to the Motherland with your agitprop spy.

CA even voted overwhelmingly for Proposition 36, and Newsom won't fund it, because, get this, he didn't even put it in the budget.

It came with no funding source in the bill.

Regardless liar ...

Proposition 36 is funded by California, with the state providing initial funding through the budget and additional grants. The state budget includes money for behavioral health, court costs, and public defenders, and the governor recently announced over $100 million in grants to local governments to help implement the measure's requirements for substance abuse and mental health treatment.
State budget allocation: The budget agreement includes initial funding such as $50 million for behavioral health departments, $20 million for court costs, and $15 million for pre-trial services.
Grant funding: In September 2025, the state awarded $127 million in grants to local governments and tribal communities to support the implementation of both Prop 36 and Prop 47 programs.e
