Gartner hype cycle https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gartner_hype_cycle
... he Gartner hype cycle is a graphical presentation to represent the maturity, adoption, and social application of specific technologies. The hype cycle's veracity has been largely disputed, with studies pointing to it being inconsistently true at best. History The hype cycle framework was introduced in 1995 by Gartner analyst Jackie Fenn, who had joined the firm the year before.[1] In her research reports, Fenn identified common patterns related to the maturity of emerging technologies.[2] Fenn referred to this familiar progression as a "hype cycle" and created a graph depicting its ups and downs with each distinct stage given a title, starting with Technology trigger and ending with Plateau of productivity.[3] The chart was included in a one-off research report, but it was popular with other Gartner analysts and clients and the "Hype Cycle of Emerging Technologies" was soon developed into an annual report.[2] ...

When AI tells you that "no such country called the United States of America exists", you have to wonder about its utility.
Happened to me.

GIGO.
It's a thing you know.
AI just turbocharges it and give the nonsense credibility.
I have seen multiple contradictory answers on the same topic many times.
It's like a kaleidoscope of words being siloed.
No intelligence is There.
Only word play.

Last two major Internet outages have been bots, doing jobs that humans used to do. The Cloudflare thing just recently, and the AWS one in October.
Two in two months.

@#9 ... The Cloudflare thing just recently ...
Cloudflare broke itself -- and a big chunk of the Internet " with a bad database query www.theregister.com
... Cloudflare CEO Matthew Prince has admitted that the cause of its massive Tuesday outage was a change to database permissions, and that the company initially thought the symptoms of that adjustment indicated it was the target of a "hyper-scale DDoS attack," before figuring out the real problem. Prince has penned a late Tuesday post that explains the incident was "triggered by a change to one of our database systems' permissions which caused the database to output multiple entries into a feature file' used by our Bot Management system." The file describes malicious bot activity and Cloudflare distributes it so the software that runs its routing infrastructure is aware of emerging threats. Changing database permissions caused the size of the feature file to double and grow beyond the file size limit Cloudflare imposes on its software. When that code saw the illegally large feature file, it failed. ...

... and I notice (looking at the log files) this evening that the OpenAI bot (a.k.a., "openai.com/gptbot" in the web server logs) seems to be getting a lot more aggressive of late. Many more scans than before.
But I will say, that the OpenAI bot still seems to be obeying the instructions I have in robots.txt.
Unlike other AI bots I've seen.

Pink Floyd - Cymbaline (1969) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TjVyd00NNDs
Some early Pink Floyd, back when they did a lot of movie soundtrack work.
Lyrics excerpt ...
https://genius.com/Pink-floyd-cymbaline-lyrics
... [Verse 1] The path you tread is narrow And the drop is sheer and very high The ravens all are watching From a vantage point nearby Apprehension creeping like a tube train up your spine Will the tightrope reach the end? Will the final couplet rhyme? [Chorus] And it's high time, cymbaline It's high time, cymbaline Please, wake me [Verse 2] A butterfly with broken wings Is falling by your side The ravens all are closing in There's nowhere you can hide Your manager and agent Are both busy on the phone Selling coloured photographs To magazines back home [Chorus] And it's high time, cymbaline It's high time, cymbaline Please, wake me [Verse 3] The lines converging where you stand They must have moved the picture plane The leaves are heavy around your feet You hear the thunder of the train Suddenly, it strikes you That they're moving into range And Doctor Strange Is always changing sides ...
