Republicans now say anyone can be detained, just for being suspicious.
Probable Cause or reasonable articulable suspicion of a crime is no longer required.
Fun time to be a First Amendment auditor.
Great time to be a self appointed constitutional scholar like JeffJ.

Edward Snowden warned us years ago the US was constructing an all-intrusive, all-seeing panopticon.
Between video surveillance, warrantless ICE communication interception/hacking from hi-tech Israeli equipment, DHS amassing voter/driver license info from every state, and IRS info becoming available to DHS, the US will have a police state that Josef Stalin or Der Fuhrer could only dream of.
We're all Palestinians now.
And do you think a non-Republican POTUS in 2028 or 2032 will order these Border Patrol cameras dismantled or the massive DHS electronic gulag scrubbed?
In the 21st century, no Democratic POTUS did anything to dismantle DHS or defang the warrantless powers of ICE, both constructs of George "Dubya" Bush and the "Global War on Islam."

... The predictive intelligence program has resulted in people being stopped, searched and in some cases arrested. A network of cameras scans and records vehicle license plate information, and an algorithm flags vehicles deemed suspicious based on where they came from, where they were going and which route they took. Federal agents in turn may then flag local law enforcement. Suddenly, drivers find themselves pulled over -- often for reasons cited such as speeding, failure to signal, the wrong window tint or even a dangling air freshener blocking the view. They are then aggressively questioned and searched, with no inkling that the roads they drove put them on law enforcement's radar. Once limited to policing the nation's boundaries, the Border Patrol has built a surveillance system stretching into the country's interior that can monitor ordinary Americans' daily actions and connections for anomalies instead of simply targeting wanted suspects. ...

How long before that car-monitoring program becomes a tool that Pres Trump's militia (a.k.a., ICE) starts using against Americans?

My first guess, don't have a dangling air freshener on your rear-view mirror.
But, I suspect that guess may be naive.

So, if you happen to take a back road, AI is going to report you to the police to be pulled over, and possibly arrested, because you didn't take the main route to the destination?
Pres Trump's vision for Making America Great Again,it seems.

Fascism is the permanent rule of the very few over the very many, using fear, intimidation, violence, and hate. Interesting that Trump said he doesn't mind being called a fascist, for that is what he is, what kind of suppression state he is creating. And major league fascists, like Trump, don't get better, they get more and more expansive in their need to dominate. I really think the midterms will be the time Trump calls out his army, the stand back and stand back folks, to frighten voters to keep them from voting against him.
