Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) is now engaged in an open war with House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA), ostensibly about a dispute in the NDAA, the annual Pentagon policy bill. The 2026 NYS gubernatorial candidate is so frustrated that she's prepared to tank the must-pass defense bill, approved by lawmakers every year for more than six decades, if House Speaker Johnson doesn't include a provision requiring the FBI to alert Congress if it opens a counterintelligence investigation (CII) into an elected official or candidate.

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) is undergoing a particularly perilous moment. The frontispiece for America's super-wealthy is entering the most difficult stretch of his banal speakership, with anger over government spending, the detrimental BBB, skyrocketing health care costs, the Epstein files coverup, and the broader political climate rife inside the House GOP Conference. Republican legislators find it easy, even convenient, to hammer the Louisiana milquetoast. Johnson has little choice but to bend as he only has a two-vote margin. And the speaker has lots of retiring members who are running for other offices, like Elise Stefanik (R-NY), often by bashing the very Congress they serve in.
Earlier this year House Republican Elise Stefanik (R-NY) was jilted at the altar when Dummkopf Trumpf abruptly withdrew her nomination for the prized sinecure post of US Ambassador to the UN. Then, Trumpf cut the legs out from under Stefanik by warmly receiving and endorsing NYC Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani in the Oval Office. The Republican, who had been booed by her own constituents, made her campaign strategy all about smearing NYS Governor Kathy Hochul (D-NY) for supporting the Muslim Bronx High School of Science graduate.

Why Elise Stefanik was thrown under the bus twice in one year by Dummkopf Trumpf is open to speculation. Knowing Trumpf's shallow nature and penchant for appointing young attractive women to his junta may have something to do with it, as there are few zoftig women hovering around like s***-eating horseflies in Trumpf's orbit.

Gotta love it when a ham-fisted plan starts falling apart.

This is a good thing, Diversity of thought is better than diversity of language.

Its too bad under Pelosi Democrats were onetrack thinkers, this is why they are called Lumpers.

I see lots diverse thinking on the right, very little to none on the left. Even Erza Klein is getting more ---- from lefties for his book Abundance than the righties.
