Svante Myrick: It has been a strange month for American Christians whose religious identity is not bound up with the adoration of President Trump.

Another fact you'll never hear the Trump regime acknowledge. Israeli settler/colonizers are driving Christians out of the West Bank. Not Palestinian Muslims. Not Hamas. Israeli colonizers backed by Netanyahu & the US Government are violently attacking Christians www.theguardian.com/world/2026/a ...

"But that's more fantasy than history. If our country's founders, who were unhappily familiar with Europe's state churches, wanted to create a "Christian nation," they could have written Christian dogma into the Constitution.

Instead, they included a ban on any official national religion and an explicit ban on any religious test for public office.

That's why it was so wrong for Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick (R), chair of Trump's "religious liberty commission," to say this month that separation of church and state is "the biggest lie that's been told in America since our founding."

In fact, it is a fundamental American promise that protects religious liberty for everyone. It's a principle we should be celebrating as we commemorate the 250th anniversary of our declaration of independence from England and its official church.

Instead, the Trump administration is teaming up with a bunch of right-wing Christian nationalists for a May 17 event on the National Mall that is supposed to "rededicate" America to God."

"I am no preacher, but what I have learned in my Baptist Church about the Old Testament prophets makes me suspect that God may not look very favorably on being asked to bless a government that is busy slamming its doors to refugees and taking food out of the mouths of hungry people while its corrupt leaders manipulate the system to enrich themselves."

The War of Trump's Ego?

No one with any pride or sanity would.

Ah yes, religion, a practicing philosophy where ten different people can claim ten different certainties about how the Universe gets through its days. Now, Talarico is a person of faith who I have learned to admire as he uses his belief system to uplift himself and others, and is not interested in world domination.
All in all, I see Christianity to be not a religion of faith, but a declaration of tribal demands....this is what you say, how you dress, what you bend a knee to.
The day they establish Christianity as the national religion, that day is when our Constitutional Republic truly falls to fanatics.

Fortunately, the God of the bible sees white nationalist Christianity pretty much as you do.

Actual Christianity is not a meritocracy, nor is it a private, exclusive club with members of certain status and behaviors.

It's more how, as you say, Rep Talirico sees it; a faith in loving and treating others the way you would want to be treated.

Faith isn't a religious word, btw. It is the same way we feel about significant others that we know and love.

So wait, is it a holy war or all about oil? Sorry, I unsubscribed from the daily "Today's agenda based solely on our emotions when we woke up" memos the Dems send out.

"It's more how, as you say, Rep Talirico sees it; a faith in loving and treating others the way you would want to be treated."

So how can a liberal see it this way when the Dem party is busy hating anyone who doesn't agree with them? If the golden rule is actually a thing, that means Dems want to be assassinated considering that's how they are treating Reps.

Its a drug war. If you invade a country and steal their oil, the Fentanyl boats stop coming.

Hating the policies of people who kowtow to billionaires by giving them tax cuts taken from the poor and middle class is... quite Christian.

JC took a whip to the Bankers at the Temple who were charging 3 prices to change currencies... and turned over their tables to put them out of bidness.

It isn't hate to treat people how they deserve to be treated.

The problem with people like you is you don't like what's reflected back at you. Your response, however, is not to reflect and reconsider, it's to lash out at the mirror.
