Monsignor Stephen J. Rossetti, who serves as chief exorcist for the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Washington, joined the growing chorus of Catholics and other Christians warning that UFOs and related phenomena are likely "demonic."

Chief Exorcist Monsignor Stephen J. Rossetti: "But there's a danger here ... as an exorcist, I wanted to raise that danger: and that is that demons like to hide, they don't want us to know they're around. They don't want us to know what they're doing because they're more effective when we don't realize it. And they can kind of get into your head ... and manipulate things in the world to influence us to do evil."

Rossetti said Ephesians 6:12 makes clear that humanity is engaged in warfare against spiritual forces of wickedness in high places and encourages Christians to "put on the armor of God" to resist them.

"Look Kang, this priest said that we're demonic. Doesn't Monsignor Rossetti know that we have feelings, too?"

"Oh, Kodos. If you prick us, do we not bleed? if you tickle us, do we not laugh? if you poison us, do we not die? and if you wrong us, shall we not revenge?"

Archdiocese of Washington Removes Prominent Exorcist Over Remarks Linking UFOs to Demonic Activity
Monsignor Stephen Rossetti's claims about aerial phenomena and demons 'gravely undermined' the Church's teachings, Cardinal Robert McElroy said.

The Church often footdrags with the best/worst of them. But, boy, did they move to shut down this guy.

Cardinal McElroy in his statement said Msgr. Rossettis remarks "gravely undermine the Church's very precise teaching on the devil, demons and exorcism." The cardinal also criticized the St. Michael Centers "recent use of social media," though the statement did not offer any specifics beyond that.

In a statement after the news broke, Msgr. Rossetti said he was "saddened" by the archdioceses decision.

"I ask forgiveness for any ways that I have not been faithful to the teachings of the Church's Magisterium, particularly in the cited video on aliens and the demonic'," he said.

Good Morning Doc Sarvis:

Jeepers! The ink is barely dry on my OP and Max von Sydow has already been sh*t-canned.

You're right, at times the Vatican moves like a brontosaurus-- this time they attacked like velociraptors.

I am surprised you didn't catch the words of the Immortal Bard uttered by Kang.

BTW: In the early 1970s, the cult classic TV show The Night Stalker was cancelled over budget and salary issues. Anyway, the producers had an unaired script about Carl Kolchak uncovering a plot where US politicians are being secretly replaced by aliens.

Maybe Kang, Kodos, or both.

Max von Sydow ... thanks for that, Coriolanus. He became the consummate character actor, always seeming to hide something behind d whatever he was doing. It made him interesting (and very employable). And as for Kolchak, he sure had the best job on this planet. (The rumpled appearance of Carl's/Darren's suits mirrored that of my ROTC uniform's: pressed under a mattress.)
