House Republicans, with the help of four Democrats, voted Thursday to approve legislation that would slash nutrition assistance for millions of young children and pregnant and postpartum women, even as food prices continue to rise nationwide and earlier GOP cuts to federal aid take hold.

As grocery prices continue to rise nationally, the House passed an appropriations bill that would cut $141 million in funding for a program that helps pregnant women and children purchase healthy foods.

"Under the legislation, the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC) would lose $141m in funding for fruit and vegetable benefits for the nearly 5.4m children and pregnant and postpartum women enrolled. Four House Democrats voted with Republicans to pass the measure, while five Republicans voted against it."

Meanwhile to our north, earlier this year Canada PM Mark Carney took measures to make groceries and other essentials more affordable for Canadians. How lucky Canada and Mexico are to have compassionate and intelligent leadership in their legislative bodies and executive branches.

Four Democrats!

And to those four Democrats-- whoever you are -- that voted with the GOP to continue malnutrition with America's vulnerable people, GFY!

Nota Bene: In 2025 alone, the peace-loving hardworking American taxpayer sent wealthy, nuclear-armed Israel $12 billion in military funding to murder Palestinian children; that amount could have instead paid for 1,982,488 American families with one year's free groceries.

US midterm elections are scheduled for Tuesday 3 Nov 2026.

Good Morning Doc Sarvis

Thanks for the granularity. I am afraid to look each of them up and see why they did this.

I trust you are well and reading something interesting.

I'm enjoying an Agatha Christie mystery before beginning a more serious tome.

Alternating between fiction and non-fiction, light and heavy, history or current events, works well for this poor kitty who contributes modest OPs to drudge.com.

"Fourty quatloos for the human!"

I do wonder what was their price?

Washington disappointingly has greedy vipers legislating from the trees and crooked little police employing questionable surveillance techniques.

A transition is being hastened with datacenter installation.

As if they care one whit for anyone's children. Ghouls for sale predate upon those with the least power, we need populist legislation FIRST AND ONLY.

Status quo is an agenda that hastens the DNC plague barge further into the swamp, and I hope it burns violently along with it's Project 2025 supporters.

Billionaires deserve no safety, no sense of security so long as there are hungry children in the communities that surround their "assets".

Change is coming with a ferocity and purpose.

Apparently ~$26 per person is too much for our budget. Meanwhile, multi-million dollar missile after missile to defend Israel is a-OK.

WTF does this have to do with AIPAC?

#15 JPW speaks for many, many people when he asks C0RI0LANUS, "WTF does this have to do with AIPAC?"

Answer: Not a damn thing.

Just one more way C0RI0LANUS spreads his abhorrent and virulent anti-Semitism.

He does everything he can to demonstrate his hatred of Jews.

But he's so articulate (as so many seem to swoon), and he "plays bridge."

For me? Half of what he claims is a lie, while the other half are mere exaggerations.

Or is it all part of a coordinated effort here on the Drudge Retort?
