New cases of New World screwworm have been confirmed in West Texas, prompting the U.S. Department of Agriculture to expand its response, including immediate sterile fly dispersal flights over Crockett County. In a post on X from the USDA's New World Screwworm Rapid Response, the agency said that "in the last 24 hours, 1 lamb in Crockett County, TX, and 2 calves in Edwards County, TX have tested positive for New World Screwworm, bringing the total number of domestic confirmed detections to 15." The USDA said it "has already taken action and will be starting sterile fly dispersal flights over Crockett County (outside current affected areas) immediately."

There was no reason to get to this point except for Donald Trump.

Trump/MAGA thought this made no sense.

No, I'm not kidding.

And that's why they began last year by ending the program entirely.

This administration has a definite lack of critical thinking starting at the top.

Trump closed the screw worm program down.

Because MAGA didn't believe the science and saw no point in it, even though it worked for decades.

Your chance of catching Ebola is being made available to you.

I don't know why you bother to jump in on these threads.

The Trump/MAGA attitude towards pestilence is established and well-known.

You people don't mind dying from disease.

I think it's called "natural selection". Where the dumb kill themselves off due to poor decisions.

They don't mind when anyone outside their gated communities dies of disease, as long as their gardeners and housekeepers are spared.

Uh huh... Sure, moron.

"For decades, screwworm was largely absent from the United States and Mexico. That changed in 2023, when outbreaks began spreading northward through Central America and into southern Mexico. The reasons are still being investigated, but likely include interruptions in sterile fly production during the Covid pandemic, increased movement of cattle and people, and the sheer difficulty of maintaining surveillance across remote terrain"

LOL. You can't even identify the reason people are concerned. Screwworm isn't much of a threat to people. Screwworm matters because then the retarded Trumpers like Pinche Mao can't sell their infected cattle.

Yes, I've read that he cut off funding to Central America. Funding for a program that was not doing the US any good doesn't make any sense to me, so I really don't care about the cuts.

"Yes, I've read that he cut off funding to Central America."

Hey dummy.

Remember when you supported the Iraq War because W. was fighting the terrorists overseas, so we don't have to fight them here?

You didn't learn anything from that.

Now we're fighting screweworm here because we didn't fight it south of the border.

Even in your abject stupidity and flatulent ignorance, you know that I'm right and you're wrong.

First of all, I never supported any wars in Iraq, and I publicly criticized my government over it right here on this site.

Secondly, you suck at managing money if you gladly keeping for services not rendered. Because that's exactly what was going on in Central America when the funding was cut.

Did Big Balls himself tell you that when DOGE was making the cuts?

You're just making stuff up.

You don't know anything about disease management, in humans or livestock.

Another disease we're no longer managing overseas is Bird Flu.

USAID was fighting that. The ------- like you decided it wasn't worth trying to prevent bird flu from reaching our shores, we can just cull hundreds of millions of birds if it gets here.

You're too provincial to understand how the world works. You're like a child who thinks meat is born on a styrofoam tray in the back of the grocery store.
