Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

California saw $1.4 billion in Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program errors for Fiscal Year 2025. That accounts for $3.8 million every single day. That's part of a trend of Southwestern states having to repay the federal government for SNAP benefits. A payment error rate refers to instances of overpayment or underpayment to households. It is not inherently indicative of fraud, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, which oversees SNAP for the federal government. Rather, according to the department, it often stems from households providing incomplete information or state data processing errors.

"These payment error rates are further proof that state accountability is severely lacking in SNAP," said Agriculture Secretary Brooke L. Rollins in the press release. "USDA has taken historic action to help interested states curb SNAP waste, and I hope other states, regardless of political leadership, prioritize needy families and the American taxpayer over politics."

States that managed to stay below the 6% threshold are safe from financial penalties.

FTA:

And now the rest of the story.

Texas's Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) payment error rate stands at 9.34%. Because this exceeds the 6% congressional limit, the state will face significant financial penalties beginning in October 2027. The error rate is comprised of 6.99% in overpayments and 2.35% in underpayments.

When you purposely leave out part of the truth to make an ideological statement then it's just propaganda.

I didn't leave anything out. Good for Texas, they need to reel in their BS too.

Your article did.

But I love how your article / thread seems to focus in on CALIFORNIA.

When it's actually a nationwide problem.

And I see you also failed to mention that California had reduced reported Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) theft and fraud by 83% by deploying first-in-the-nation chip-and-tap cards, predictive AI models, and forced PIN resets.

Which should have been employed from the start everywhere.

Also. I noticed that the "error rate" also includes UNDERPAYMENTS.

Nowhere do I see you magatards mention any of these little detail when you report on it.

Partial truths can also be lies. But i just call it what it is ... propaganda. Agitprop. An attempt to distort the truth and gin up more faux rage.

Its envy.

Red states hate California.

Maybe not, but they're about to think really hard about wasting $3.8 million dollars of federal tax money every...single...day.

Trump is wasting billions a day on a war with Iran and Turds is worried about poor people receiving assistance to buy food.

What a fucking asshole you are.
