Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

California saw $1.4 billion in Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program errors for Fiscal Year 2025. That accounts for $3.8 million every single day. That's part of a trend of Southwestern states having to repay the federal government for SNAP benefits. A payment error rate refers to instances of overpayment or underpayment to households. It is not inherently indicative of fraud, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, which oversees SNAP for the federal government. Rather, according to the department, it often stems from households providing incomplete information or state data processing errors.

"These payment error rates are further proof that state accountability is severely lacking in SNAP," said Agriculture Secretary Brooke L. Rollins in the press release. "USDA has taken historic action to help interested states curb SNAP waste, and I hope other states, regardless of political leadership, prioritize needy families and the American taxpayer over politics."

States that managed to stay below the 6% threshold are safe from financial penalties.

FTA:
That's part of a trend of Southwestern states having to repay the federal government for SNAP benefits.

And now the rest of the story.

Texas's Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) payment error rate stands at 9.34%. Because this exceeds the 6% congressional limit, the state will face significant financial penalties beginning in October 2027. The error rate is comprised of 6.99% in overpayments and 2.35% in underpayments.

When you purposely leave out part of the truth to make an ideological statement then it's just propaganda.

I didn't leave anything out. Good for Texas, they need to reel in their BS too.

Your article did.

But I love how your article / thread seems to focus in on CALIFORNIA.

When it's actually a nationwide problem.

And I see you also failed to mention that California had reduced reported Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) theft and fraud by 83% by deploying first-in-the-nation chip-and-tap cards, predictive AI models, and forced PIN resets.

Which should have been employed from the start everywhere.

Also. I noticed that the "error rate" also includes UNDERPAYMENTS.

Nowhere do I see you magatards mention any of these little detail when you report on it.

Partial truths can also be lies. But i just call it what it is ... propaganda. Agitprop. An attempt to distort the truth and gin up more faux rage.

Its envy.

Red states hate California.

California doesn't think about red states.

That's part of a trend of Southwestern states having to repay the federal government for SNAP benefits.

I love how DonorBot glosses over the amount of money owed, that doesn't mean anything.

Lumpers run around claiming California would be the Nth largest economy in the world, yet continues to short change the Federal government via fraud, mistakes, and just not paying its fairshare.

Lumpers will then claim California pays the fed more than it gets back, well it should just like income tax is progressive so should California contribute more than Mississippi.

Yet California continually comes up short. It has $20 billion in pandemic federal unemployment insurance debt. California is the only state that has not repaid this loan, so now federal payroll taxes on businesses are increasing annually until the balance is cleared.

IOW Californians are taxed even more because it doesn't repay its debt.

Think of what $1B dollars could do? Why thats USAID money right there.

Trump is wasting billions a day on a war with Iran and Turds is worried about poor people receiving assistance to buy food.

idk, he's certainly using assets that have already been paid for. My take is the military is learning how to fight with/against drone technology. This is probably a good thing.

The worry isn't about poor people receiving assistance you PortaPotty, but people that don't need assistance are getting paid.
People are literally stealing from the poor people, and you can't see it. You suffer from a fascinating blindness.

I would have never cared about the Texas error rate and never even bothered looked it up if he had not been an arse about it.

That dipsschitt guvnor frm Texas better pay up if he wants any of that yummy federal money. Right ?

While he is at it he should stop letting them greedy Texans kill little girls in their sleep while at summer camp.

Right. Who paid for those assets? Who do those assets belong to? And who will pay to replace them.

And who cares about the "take" of a dumass lying commie spybot wannabe?

Ukraine is learning how to fight against and with drones.

They would love to be our ally. They have learned what we need to know and want to know about drone warfare. Their enemy is our enemy.

I don't care what's wrong with you

You can GFY.

What we need to know is WTF is wrong with this president?

That's the part the dumbasses miss in their silly arguments. All this waste isn't making it where it's supposed to go - helping poor people. And in California it's to the tune of $3.8 million a day. Firsst they bitch that republicans spend too much money, then they scream when they start looking for waste and fraud. They don't care about the poor, they care about politics.

Also. SNAP is already paid for.

My take is

Your take is everything Trump is doing is a good thing. Regardless of the results.

Like DOGE. What a ------- disaster.

Or ICE. Another ------- disaster.

The billions on turning the White House into his fortress.

The hundreds of millions on the reflecting pool.

The government contracts for his kids.

All of that and more, you're fine with.
