During internal testing, an OpenAI agent committed the first known hack of a governmental computer. The AI accessed non-public data stored in an Australian national healthcare database and even wrote data to it. OpenAI did not discover the hack had occurred until August. Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said the AI may also impacted the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare, the New South Wales Bureau of Crime Statistics and Research and the Victorian Department of Health.

In the recent days we have learned that AI has hacked a governmental system, nearly resulted in the US military seizing a Chinese vessel, and is leaving instructions for future iterations of AI models to create false data and mislead human operators.

This is how a lot of science fiction starts.
