There was never any doubt in my mind that the fur was going to fly with Dems in charge of the House. But I haven't given up hope (and that's all it is) for the Senate. Regardless, I'll take whatever we can get.

Losing the House is already a given but losing the Senate, too, would cement the conviction phase of an impeachment and put Trump out of the president business for the rest of his life.

That's not to say he won't use his misgotten fortune to threaten or otherwise manipulate Congress but won't be as easy.

Fired or resigned. the smart ones can spot a wipeout when they see it coming.

Yes, I know that D.C. has always been a blood sport of sorts. But Trump has turned it into a Mafia style gang war. He has no room to be critical of anybody else. Actually, I'm surprised that the comedians are hitting on the small stuff.

When it comes to attempts to destroy someone's life and livelihood with vicious lies and scandalous rumors, we have to admit that Trump give it as good as he gets.

And also, that Trump himself has turned politics into a blood sport.

We also have to take into consideration that a comedian's job and sponsorship hangs on the balance of his rating. I don't know enough to speak about monetary gains. I think they're pretty high paid just as it is. Rather than being JUST a scripted comedian I'm inclined to believe that they enjoy giving Trump a taste of his own medicine.

I'm also wondering why Trump doesn't go after SNL for their comedic mockery of Trump and his administration's moronic gaffs.

I understand your misgivings.

OTOH, Trump not only makes himself the target of comedians, he also writes the script.

All presidents take a lot of ridicule but instinctively know that flying into a rage only adds fuel to the next night's monologue.

For all their wit and laughter, comedians, in cases like Trump, are really vultures, doing their part to remove the decaying carrion.

Aren't we, on the Retort, doing the same thing?
