SACRAMENTO, California " Phillips 66 announced Wednesday that it will close its Los Angeles oil refinery next year, citing "long-term uncertainty" two days after Gov. Gavin Newsom signed a law clearing the way for new regulations on the state's refiners. The closure would knock out about 8 percent of refining capacity in a state that barely produces enough of its special-blend gasoline to meet demand from its 31 million gas-powered vehicles. read more
At the time, I was unaware of a full dossier with additional allegations, which led some to accuse the New York Times of withholding that information from me. However, the article clearly stated that it was my "initial reaction" to those allegations, not a complete analysis. Today, I reviewed the complete dossier prepared by Dr. Stefan Weber, whom I have covered before. I also performed a peer review of one of his papers in 2018. With this new information, while I believe the case is more serious than I commented to the New York Times, the overarching points remain. While there are problems with this work, the pattern points to sloppy writing habits, not a malicious intent to defraud. Is it problematic? Yes. But it's also not the wholesale fraud that many have claimed it to be. It sits somewhere between what the two sides want it to be. read more
From posts about the presidential election to posts about Hurricane Helene and Federal Emergency Management Agency misinformation, the CCC found them substantial enough to block the Air Force's plan to give SpaceX permission to launch up to 50 rockets a year from the Vandenberg Air Force Base in Santa Barbara County. "Elon Musk is hopping about the country, spewing and tweeting political falsehoods and attacking FEMA while claiming his desire to help the hurricane victims with free Starlink access to the internet," Commissioner Gretchen Newsom said at the meeting in San Diego.
DeSantis et al made this a 60 percent requirement to win rather than the usual 50+ points.
Well at least Florida got to vote on it.
The California Supreme Court sided with Gov. Gavin Newsom and Democratic leaders in the Legislature on the constitutionality of a sweeping anti-tax measure, ruling today that it cannot go before voters in November.

The state became too big and chaotic; the influence of money and private interests corrupted public institutions; and social and economic inequalities became so stark that citizens lost faith in the system altogether and gradually fell into the arms of tyrants and demagogues.
All of that sounds very familiar, doesn't it?
It does. But this is where your misunderstanding of the US Government founders fails you. Your education system failed in educating you properly. I suspect only an outsider like myself can see it.
Unfortunately for the country the US passed the 17th amendment. This destroyed the founders and many other historical figures understanding of governments.
After the 17th passed the path was inevitable.
Polybius argued that regimes were in an endless cycle, and the three basic forms of government are destined to degenerate into their lower forms " and lead back to anarchy.
But there's a way to fix it...
To break the cycle, you need to combine elements of each system. Polybius admired this in the Roman Republic:
Consuls (monarch-like leaders), Senate (aristocratic body), and Assemblies (democratic element).

Strange, SJPD cops pull over vehicle code violation and uncover.. firearms.
x.com
Would they have pulled them over for the "violation" if it wasn't a bunch of youth driving around at 4am?
How is the government to control the legally owned firearms from the illegally owned?
It makes gun control regulations silly.
The right to own a gun is not unlimited (as are most rights) and was never intended to be by the 2nd amendment. Do convicted criminals (prisoners) have a right to own firearms while in prison? Have they ever?
This is like arguing with a two year old.
Donnerboy is a serious person.
This is comedy gold!
