Are saying Bowman did it on purpose?

Screw you!

Sounds like my kinda Democrat is getting control back.

Finally some sanity.

All politics is local.

And rwingers are always shocked about that.

"he pulled a fire alarm in a House office building, prompting an emergency evacuation. Bowman said at the time that he did so because he "did not want to miss the votes to keep the government funded.""

Even ignoring his pro-Hamas outlook, the guy was clearly off.

Glad the Dems were able to kick him to the curb. Too bad the GOP is unable to do the same with its own bad elements.

Americans might put up with some of the fringe radical entertainment stuff of Bowman, but not as much as the squad feeds us.

This is absolutely the most tolerant thing I have ever heard you say.

Aren't you afraid that your MAGA neighbors will burn you out?

#9 | Posted by Zed at 2024-06-26 09:27 AM

If you are reading Dem tolerance you are misreading totally. I called my Dem elected official and told them I will speak politely even though my mood with idiot Biden open border policy deserves a Jamaal Bowman like comment full of expletives that Dems are good at telling us, while doing nothing to fix anything. SECURE OUR COUNTRY NOW!

I'm just happy that the attack ads on NYC local TV are over with. Sometimes i couldn't find the fast-forward quickly enough. :(

Jamaal Bowman is ousted in most expensive House primary ever
www.politico.com

... Rep. Jamaal Bowman was trounced in a suburban New York race that became a referendum on progressives' attitudes toward Israel and the most expensive House primary in U.S. history.

Moderate Democrat George Latimer bested Bowman on Tuesday by 17 points with 88 percent of the vote in, making Bowman the first member of the Squad to lose an election since the far-left group formed in 2018.

Latimer, a challenger who ran like an incumbent, benefited from an unprecedented flood of outside cash in a primary fueled by allegations of racism and the party's sharp divide over the Israel-Hamas war.

A leading pro-Israel group spent more than $14 million on TV ads to unseat him. And as the results rolled in, it became clear that AIPAC and its super PAC United Democracy Project had succeeded in making an example of the two-term member of Congress for routinely criticizing the Israeli offensive in Gaza. ...

I'm assuming he lost somehow because of racism.

"Squad Member Jamaal Bowman Loses Primary"

Now that's funny right there I don't care who you are!

Is anyone upset about "foreign influence" on American elections?

Askin' for a Friend.

#14 | Posted by Effeteposer at 2024-06-26 04:13 PM

His district is made up of mostly Jewish voters. They held his pro-Hamas views against him. What a surprise.

#15 | Posted by lee_the_agent at 2024-06-26 05:25 PM

He held no "pro Hamas" views that I know of.

Only anti Genocide ones.

And AIPAC went all in to protect their pet killers.

Imagine what Russia could do if they wanted to?

Meddling with elections in foreign countries is dangerous.

Israel leads the way in the US.

But don't you worry, Russia is a quick study.

They'll catch up in no time.

#17 | Posted by Effeteposer at 2024-06-26 07:16 PM

@#18 ... Imagine what Russia could do if they wanted to? ...

Why the denial of what they have done?

Is that the new talking points your current alias has been issued?

#18 | Posted by LampLighter at 2024-06-26 07:23 PM

Oh nooooes a far left wacko got replaced with a competent politician.

@#19 ... Oh nooooes a far left wacko got replaced with a competent politician. ...

Yea, that's my current view of this as well. Much closer to the center.

Competency? I dunno, as I am not in his district.

#20 | Posted by LampLighter at 2024-06-26 07:39 PM

I'm no fan of foreign influence or of any foreign lobbies and that definitely includes AIPAC. I've never ever supported anything else in my years on this forum. America first always and never ever support any foreign lobbies.

so do you think the IDF will be able to finally totally eradicate hamas?

#22 | Posted by brerrabbit at 2024-06-26 08:17 PM

No. Absolutely not. Even Genocidal tactics will fail, especially them.

Hearts and Minds. I know it seems impossible, but that's the only way to really break this cycle of Massacre and Retaliation.

Unless Israel is prepared to be the Monsters they accuse Hamas of being a thousand times over.

Does Israel want the Mark of Cain?

Could they Survive it?

Inquiring Minds want to know.

compare to the out going guy the new congressman is brilliant and his views better reflect that of most Americans.

... compare to the out going guy the new congressman is brilliant and his views better reflect that of most Americans. ...>

Yeah, that seems to be, more or less, what I'm seeing on the local news about his win.

I said that "more or less" caveat because his views seem to be more centrist, and not based upon any knowledge I have about "most Americans."

One interesting observation... in the ads I did watch before I tired of them, he seemed to run as the incumbent, not as the challenger. That was odd. But it seems to have won for him.

A congressperson has a responsibility to his or her constituents and to the Constitution. Voters have a duty to practice good citizenship, which entails voting as a member of a polity, weighing what's in the nation's interest and in a way that promotes the "general welfare". Some extreme politicians disregard their duty to the Constitution and to promoting America's polity. A lot of the "Squad" rhetoric is as hard for opponents to accept as is the rhetoric of Boebert, MTG, or Jordan. Perhaps, trimming the extremes in Congress means the voters are looking to collaboration in government rather than all or nothing polarization?

I do not disagree.

On the contrary, I agree, with a NW flag.

All politics is local.

If that were the case, we could keep California and Portland's crazy within their borders.

AIPAC uber alles.
