They're mostly worthless, unfortunately. Price gouging either happens in short term price spikes associated with natural disasters, in which case by the time the state even bothers investigation prices are back down and the criminals are just told "don't do that next time" with no charges filed, or as it's happening now, with long term price gouging dismissed as being "inflation" and the criminals aren't even told not to do it.
