LANSING: JD Vance stirred controversy on Monday by suggesting that Labor Day be a celebration of "women who go through labor."

"The woke mob has distorted the true meaning of Labor Day," Vance told supporters in Michigan. "Honoring workers might please people who work for a living, but it doesn't delight me and Donald Trump."

The vice-presidential nominee urged that Labor Day be "a time to pay tribute to the one thing that gives women's lives meaning: reproducing."

"Only women who have given birth should be allowed at Labor Day picnics," he declared. "No baby, no hot dog."

"Ok...that's gotta be The Onion..."

Close. It is satire. But I agree it's getting hard to tell anymore.

It's from the Borowitz Report according to my "Goodguy AI".

I've been up most of the night surfing the web and just reading all sorts of things. One tid bit I stumbled upon was J.D. ance's opinion that Labor Day shouldn't be about the Labor movement but about women, in labor, having babies. I thought someone should whisper in his ear that we celebrate Mother's Day every year and try to show our Mothers how much we appreciate them but apparently J.D, is unaware of that and thinks we should forget the real reason for making Labor Day a national holiday, probably because him and his running mate do not support organised labor even, apparently, if some of the members of unions are mothers or even fathers. Never mind that the unions help parents earn more money to raise their families with.
So then, couldn't we make a case that J.D. and Trump really don't support parents earning more money so that they can take better care of their families? It would be a fair case because it's true. They don't support unions and unions do enable families to live better so you could easily construe that to say Trump and Vance don't support working class families. When Kamala destroys Trump in their debate and when J.D, meets Tim Walz I hope both Kamala and Tim make that point. Not just Donald and J.zd. but thr entit=re Republican Party is anti-organised labor whether they admit it or not. They believe all the power in an employment relationship should belong to the employer. Example ;if you fecide to change jobs they expect a notice of anywhere between one week to one month or even longer as they look for a replacement. However when they want to fire you they purposely give you no warning; on that I am sure because they did it to me on a job I held for 20b years.
Unions lrvrl the playing field between employer and employee and many employers think that is just wrong that an employees should never have any power in an employment squabble.
zso it stands to reason that SCABs like Trump and Vance would want to change the basic neaning of Labor Day to anything that doesn't celebrate ubions.

Something I have noticed this holiday today.

The lack of any of the usual pro-Trump supporters on this thread.

Curious.
