Trump Appoints Far-Right Podcaster as Deputy FBI Director

"Unqualified henchmen": Dan Bongino's installation in high-ranking law enforcement role sparks concern in both Republicans and Democrats

More

"His appointment as deputy to the newly confirmed director, Kash Patel, marks the first time in the bureau's 117-year history that the second-in-command post has not been held by one of its senior agents.

"Donald Trump just named far-right MAGA podcaster Dan Bongino, a notorious conspiracy theorist who promoted the lie that the 2020 election was stolen,' to serve as Deputy Director of the FBI. God help us all," posted the X account Republicans Against Trump.

Gregg Nunziata, a Republican and former general counsel to Marco Rubio, the secretary of state, warned that Bongino was a more extreme appointment than Patel " who has portrayed the bureau as an arm of a so-called "deep state" dedicated to undermining Trump and has vowed to turn its Washington headquarters into a museum.

"Kash Patel should have been a redline. Bongino is what you get when [Republican] Senators fail to do their jobs and say no to Patel," Nunziata wrote."

'
"The Trump Admin is turning federal law enforcement over to unqualified, unprincipled, partisan henchmen. It's unacceptable and conservatives need to say so."

Chris Murphy, a Democratic senator for Connecticut, wrote:

"Trump has chosen grifters to lead the FBI. Dan Bongino's entire show is telling listeners the world is ending so they buy the dozens of survivalist products he sells. I know this feels like a bad dream. It isn't."

;;

He's like the 20th former Fox host Trump's appointed... He really does think this is just a Sequel to his The Apprentice show.

Sec Patel is effectively the CEO of the DoJ. Longer-term direction and management.

The Deputy Director is effectively the COO of the FBI, day-to-day operation of the FBI.

I cannot imagine how low the morale might be in the FBI this evening ...

Yep... can't think of a better time for some terrorist group to attack the US.

How Dan Bongino Went From Infowars to FBI Deputy Director
www.wired.com

... Dan Bongino rose through the ranks of right-wing media thanks to his unflinching loyalty to Donald Trump and willingness to push baseless conspiracies -- including about the FBI.

Dan Bongino has spent the last decade building a career in right-wing media based on his sycophantic support of President Donald Trump and his willingness to engage in endless conspiracy theories about everything from Covid-19 and the 2020 elections to the FBI, which he has said should no longer exist in its current form.

"The FBI is no longer a law enforcement entity," Bongino wrote on X in 2023. "It is an oppo research firm for Democrats with an armed political enforcement branch." He also wrote previously that he wants to "disband the FBI" and boosted conspiracy theories about its role in the Capitol insurrection. "I don't trust these people at all," Bongino wrote under a Facebook video about the agency last year. ...

I've got $20 that says his eventual demise from the position will be spectacular and a complete PR disaster for TrumpCo. Bongino strikes me as the kind of loose gear candidate that usually washes out during the oral exam. He's Trump's version of a DEI hire, given his long history of proliferating loony conspiracy yarns. I have no doubt at some point he's going to step on his dick, wildly over-step his authority, and TrumpCo will have no choice but to publicly remove him per the outcry.

Suckers and losers.

DEI hire.

Not to mention he's never supervised anything. Never been responsible for a budget. Hell, he's never written a performance evaluation for a subordinate.

Other than that he is totally qualified!

Kash, during his confirmation hearing: I'll DEFINITELY nominate a longtime FBI agent for #2.

Kash, after his confirmation hearing: Only fools and idiots would be dumb enough to believe me!

Gotta love responses like this one. In 2007 the USA elected a community organizer as leader of the free world. Did you bitch about that?

Community organizing was never going to lead to the next terrorist attack on US soil.

Some of our enemies are very smart people.

Trump keeps handing them opportunities.

There's a certain deliberation to his behavior.

You sound defensive about this FBI appointment.

You should be.

You people are going to get us killed.

I'll point out when that happens.

It should be obvious from all the dead bodies.

You really should read your links.
It doesn't say what you think it says.
Do you actually post things without reading them?

" Ayers hosted a meet-the-candidate gathering at his home as Barack Obama prepared to run for his initial election to the Illinois state senate (although Ayers later said he didn't even know Obama at the time), the two worked with the same charity and social service organizations in Chicago (particularly the Chicago Annenberg Challenge), and Ayers contributed $200 to Obama's re-election campaign for the Illinois state senate in 2001"

And how many people did that kill?

When I say that you're acting defensive, I mean that you're acting DEFENSIVE.

#15 - on that's damning! LMAO!

So we all now know you can read, you just can't comprehend what it is you're reading! Thanks for clearing that up!

Jesus, you really are sweating.

It's really that hard to admit that someone goofed with this nomination.

It's really that hard to concede that a basic lack of competence might lead to disaster and death.

I want to hear your Obama BS when that first American airliner explodes.

I'm being serious.

It's easy to see why you two 'tards don't venture out beyond the boundaries of this place. Zed is the one making terrorist claims that Bongino MIGHT get involved with, and poor Yav cant help but deny Obama's relationship with Ayers. You two are a special kind of 'tard.
